Restless Night, Final Details and Three Times In A Day

Our Location today is at Windsor, Ontario, Canada.

Before we went to bed last night it was still raining and the temperature was feeling in the Upper Thirties so we had no choice but to cycle the Furnace just to take the chill out of the Trailer. We figured that we were going to sleep like a couple of rocks but once again that didn’t happen. The Walmart Superstore we were at was open 24 Hours and with the passing EMS Vehicles passing just a few hundred feet away didn’t help.

We finally got up around 8:00 this morning with a list of more errands to run. It was closer to 9:00 by the time we got to the nearby McDonald’s where we each had a Breakfast Wrap and Coffee. We did that for a reason. As soon as we’d finished eating we walked next door to the Service Ontario office. We had forgotten to increase the Load Rating on our License Sticker. It only took a few minutes before we were on our way.

Back at Walmart Kathy had plans to look for a few things but was having a few Side Effects from the Medication used to combat her RA. When she researched what she had the other day she also found quite a list of the Side Effects. Which is worse the Cure or the Cause?

With more errands to run we decided to take care of them and then we’d relax. I headed up Lauzon Parkway with Kathy following in the Car. Both vehicles needed fuel but when we arrived at the Pioneer gas station on Walker Road we were surprised to see it closed and filled with Contractors.

Plan B had us going to the Petro Can gas station up the road. That was a costly start to our day. With another appointment coming we drove to the Devonshire Mall where we parked the Truck and Trailer over by the now closed Sears store.

Our Optometrist wanted to see Kathy one more time before we headed out. After Dilating and checking Kathy’s eyes not Once but Three Times David expressed some concern. Since her Cataract Surgery Kathy had developed a Blood Spot behind her Eye. He had thought that it would have faded by now but it seemed to be hanging in there. He wanted us to get a second opinion with another Eye Specialist but being that it was past noon they’d have to call after 1:00. After they had our Contact Information we headed for lunch.

We stopped at the Hi-Ho on Howard where we had the chance to sit and relax while having our meal. Since they were out of Split Pea Soup we had the Italian Wedding Soup and Grilled Cheese Sandwiches. We were just about o leave when David’s Office called to give us the information for Kathy’s 3:00 appointment with the Specialist. Kathy’s eyes were finally starting to refocus so she suggested we move the Truck and Trailer to our new Night-Time Location.

Again with Kathy following we drove over to the West-Side Walmart location. We didn’t want to stay at the same location and wear out our welcome. When we arrived it was impossible to park along the Fence with all kinds of vehicles there so we parked it right in the middle of the lot.

We arrived at the Specialist’s Office early which meant we were able to deal with all the paperwork they all want filled in. Then they brought Kathy back where they electronically scanned her Eyes with a Computer. With that finished they Dilated her Eyes again and said the Doctor would see her shortly.

We met Anna in the Second Waiting room who had been there since 2:00. We swapped stories of what our problems were while waiting. Then we started seeing people that arrived long after us seeing the Doctor while we continued to wait. We asked what was going on and were told they were all Emergencies. Our response was we were sent there as an Emergency as well. Anna finally saw the Doctor at 4:30 and we saw him at 5:05. Another Side Effect of the RA Medication are memory lapses and Kathy wanted me there to hear what he had to say. Because it was over Two Hours since we arrived the Doctor also Dilated Kathy’s Eyes for a Third Time Today. The good news is the Blood Spot will eventually clear up and will not cause her anymore problems.

Using one of the Gift Cards we received for Merry Thanksmas we had our supper at Harvey’s.

Checking the Walmart Parking Lot the area we wanted to park had cleared out except for a lone School Bus taking center stage. We walked around Walmart for some much needed exercise. We even found a few more Movies that we’ll watch when we get the urge. After getting permission to spend the night we were able to get set up.

We’ll be cycling the Furnace again tonight as the Temperature gets closer to the Freezing Mark but right now we are taking advantage of another McDonald’s Free WiFi. Thank you for following along and feel free to leave a comment.
Be Safe and Enjoy!

  1. I have always found the side effects are interesting but mostly unlikely, guess they have to list any and everything they might expect though. Safe travels

  2. sorry about your restless night. That usually happens to Bill before we are ready to move.
