Another Long Day On The Road and Our GPS Acts Up Again.

Our Location today is at the Alamogordo/White Sands K.O.A. NM.

We were both up by 7:00 this morning probably because we knew deep down inside that we were back on the road again today. Hot Cereal and Coffee/Tea was a must for breakfast before we started closing things up. Kathy’s Arthritis was adding to her discomfort but she didn’t let that stop her.
By 8:30 we were outside adding to our Fresh Water Tank and dumping the rest. It has been cold enough at night that we only connected the Electric so we made certain we were ready to go “Off the Grid”. Once we were packed away we stopped at the corner Fuel Station just to top up our Diesel because you don’t know what you’ll find down the road.
The other day I had researched our route finding what I thought would be the best direction to go. Our GPS needed some convincing because it planned on heading back towards Amarillo where all the Cold and Snow was. Finally heading south on US-180 we were soon traveling through the Guadeloupe Mountain Range. As soon as they appeared Kathy never lost focus on the trip.
We stopped at one of the Roadside Rest Areas where we had a lite-lunch. I’m still monitoring the problem we were having with the truck. The Border Patrol swung through making certain we weren’t pulling any funny business.
The southern route we took did bring us through El Paso, Texas where we again topped off our fuel before continuing through the maze of Construction. As we approached our planned route our GPS started wanting us to turn up Private Driveways as if they were Highways even though we had mostly clear skies for most of the day. Those cause delays that we didn’t need and soon we were trying to beat the Clock since the Sun sets at 4:55 MST.
We had planned on spending time on BLM Land but being unfamiliar with the area and everywhere we looked all we saw were fenced in properties we chose the sure way of spending the night. It only took a few minutes and we were backed in to a nice corner site. After driving 273 Miles today we now need time to do our chores, just relax for a few days along with see some Sights in the area.
Supper tonight was Chicken Noodle Soup and Strawberries with Cool Whip. Thank you for following along and feel free to leave a comment.
Be Safe and Enjoy!

It’s about time.

  2. Hoping you enjoy a few days of down time. Beautiful drive you had. Sometimes you just do better to go with the KOA or something similar and you can scout out where to go when you're nice and rested. Have fun

  5. Boy, I hate it when my GPS thinks I'm going North when I'm clearly headed SW, or has me traveling off-road when I know i'm on a highway! Hope it gets better for you!
