Crazy Weather, Nice Visit and Answering Questions.

Our Location today is at McGregor, Ontario, Canada.

Third morning in a row that we woke to the pounding of Rain on our Roof but the strange part was that it was warmer this morning then the entire day yesterday. As the Weather Guessers are now saying the weather has become Unpredictable. We started opening Windows after having breakfast in anticipation of moderate Humidex Temperatures in the Mid-80s later today.

Around noon we drove to the Michigan Diner in Essex to meet our dear friend Pauline for lunch. We used to get together often but now it’s a matter of Scheduling. We had a great time visiting even while we were eating the conversation continued. Due to other commitments we soon had to say our Good-Byes and head off in our separate ways.

I had hoped to get back outside to chip away at the outside preparations but with the 32 MPH Wind Gusts and the sky looking like it was about to burst any minute I worked inside instead. The Weather Network showed a temperature of 70 F (21 C) but with the wind we had to close the winds to feel comfortable.
Barely see the Windmills
After 5:00 the Sun was actually trying to make an appearance as well as the winds quieting down a bit. After I finely diced the Leftover Ham for Kathy I went outside to grill some Spring Rolls on a Grill Mat to go with the Caesar Ham Salad that she was making inside.

We’ve had questions lately that I want to take the time to answer. One was about Doucettes. When someone takes a lot of Prescribed Medication or Vitamins each day it is easier to put them in Doucettes so you know they were taken each day. Sometimes missing a single dosage of certain meds can make a big difference in how you feel.

Another question was about grilling Pizza directly on a Pizza Stone. It didn’t work and like many of you experienced yourselves the Pizza sticks to the Stone. I use the stone to balance and hold the High Heat of the Grill. I place the Pizza directly on a Pizza Pan that has no holes and no Pam. After it has cooked for approximately Fifteen Minutes I rotate the Pan front to back and use a Spatula to prevent the Pizza from sticking. Size, Thickness and Ingredients vary the cooking time but most are done in Twenty-Five Minutes from Frozen. After shutting off the Grill, it will take about an Hour before the Stone is cool.

The last question was if it seemed Creepy seeing our Names on Grave Markers that we were cleaning. Both Kathy and I at the time that we had just lost our former Spouses never imagined we would ever meet and fall in Love with anyone else. It was almost like we thought that part of our lives was over. We are both happy to say we were wrong. As far as seeing our Names there also tells us we are taking better care of our Health then either of our Spouses did. They were both Heavy Smokers, ate Unhealthy Diets and did nothing in the form of Exercise. Both Kathy and I smoked at one time in our lives but realized it was causing us Health Issues and quit. Though we have snacks we eat balanced meals that are filled with plenty of Vegetables. We also try to Exercise in different ways, from Bicycle Riding, to Walking or Hiking and getting to the Gym to work with Weights. At least we know where our final resting place will be.

A repeat of what we said yesterday, it is sad to see that many of those gone before us are being lost because nobody from their Families helps to keep their memories alive by doing the simple act of cleaning up their Headstones. After we cleaned Kathy’s Father’s Headstone and placed the Canadian Flag one of the Caretakers gave us a Thumbs Up.

We have to set the Alarm Clock tonight and tomorrow is going to be one of those days. Thank you for following along and feel free to leave a comment.
Be Safe and Enjoy!

  1. I didn't get to read your blog yesterday so I did go back and read. What a wonderful thing for you both to do. Your weather sounds like ours right now.

  2. We don't ever get back to where my parents are buried but I have a cousin who goes out once a year to check on the grave markers. Thank goodness.

  3. I can't believe the weather guessers actually said it was unpredictable. At least they are being honest for once.
I don't know if it's helping, but I've changed my diet drastically. It's always salad and veggies first.

  4. Nice that you answered questions that I've seen people ask. Almost like a "Ask Rick" segment..I'm sure that Pauline enjoyed getting together with you both. Nice the friendships you keep up.

  5. I'm glad you and Kathy found each other, too. I bet Kathy's cooking goes a long way in keeping you healthy. I already have my grave marker next to Rich although I'm going to be cremated and put in his grave. I figured I'd get all that finished so the kids don't have to do it. It was such chaos with Rich's sudden death that I wanted to make sure everything is taken care of. Nothing to do.

I hope you watch your route south and avoid the damage that's been done by the flooding from our east coast hurricane. I know you are a careful planner.
