Drug Store Robbery, Promotional Open House, Getting Our Supplies and Rainy Kind Of Day.

Our Location today is McGregor, Ontario, Canada.

It was almost like I was programmed to wake up at 7:30 this morning because subconsciously I remembered setting the alarm clock to wake us up at 8:00. We were both fortunate enough that we had slept fairly soundly after going to bed late last night. We had a very lite breakfast even foregoing our morning Coffee/Tea before heading out the door.

By 8:40 we were headed up Walker Road towards Windsor. This is a familiar route as it takes us directly past Kathy’s family doctor’s office on Provincial Road. Imagine our surprise when we drove by and counted eight Police Cruisers in the parking lot. The Windsor area has seen a dramatic rise in Drug Store Robberies in the last year. What the thieves are after is Opioid Type Medications for not only their personal use but for resale on the streets. We would later learn that the Pharmacy in the building was robbed by two Armed Gunmen. Hopefully soon these thieves will be behind bars and we can return to our peaceful way of life once again.
What our skies looked like this morning.
When we arrived at the C.A.A. office on Howard Avenue just after 9:00 they were having an open house with special incentives, door prizes, snacks and refreshments for their members. They even offered discounts on any of the travel items that are sold at the location. We filled in our entry forms for the draws, had a couple of snacks, then we got the Maps that Kathy needs for her research and our upcoming travels to the Southwest this year. This past year we have needed their services more then in the last ten years all together but we still didn’t feel guilty when we walk out with a number of free Maps paid for by our memberships. While there we ran into a number of fellow retirees that I used to work with in the Casting Plants and everyone had their own stories of what they have been up to since the plant was closed.

It was nearly 10:00 when we left and there were tell-tale signs on the pavement outside that it had been raining while we were inside. Our next chore was to go check our mail at Guardian Storage where it’s delivered. After driving to the east end of the city through a construction zone over Conservation Drive it was a quick stop where the only thing waiting for us was a piece of Junk Mail.

Driving back to Walker Road we headed to Home Depot where after looking around the Seasonal Section we decided to add to our outside décor at out site. We purchase a Flower Box and some Perennial Plants to go in it. These should survive the winter nicely and rebloom next spring. We then went over to the Lumber Section where after spending quite some time I managed to get the best materials that will become part of our new shelves and drawers. Another stop in the Paint Section to find the proper shade of Stain to finish our project. Again it was lightly raining when we came out with our purchases but not enough to take cover.
Salad with Cheese and a Jell-O cup.
We were Home before noon and after unloading the plants out of the truck we worked together making a Salad for our lunch.
On and Off afternoon showers.
Kathy was able to organize the new maps in her folder while I double checked a few measurements outside. We both ended up working on our Computers for the majority of the afternoon. We even took the time to get caught up on the reading we missed out on this morning.
Spaghetti with Meat and Cheese Sauce.
We again worked together making Spaghetti for our supper. We’ve found that when our first meal of the day is not normal it messes the entire day’s meals and somewhere you need to have that filling meal.

Our area is forecasted to have Hot Summer-Like Temperatures for the next week before it once again cools down. We’ll just have to work outside during the cooler mornings and the inside chores in the Air-Conditioned Trailer in the afternoon. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

It’s about time.
Krackers

Joke of the Day

Ask a silly question:

If a stealth bomber crashes in a forest, will it make a sound?
