Settling In, Celebrating Easter With Family and Seeing How Things Changed.

Our Location today is McGregor, Ontario, Canada.

Knowing that we were actually parked on our own site for this coming season had us both so relaxed last night that we struggled to stay awake long enough to post our Blog. By having this site does not mean that we have to stay here until we leave in the Fall only that we can come and go and know that our site will be here for us and we can claim it on our Income Tax as an expense.
Getting back to being relaxed, we woke up this morning to find that we had left two of the roof vents and some windows open throughout the night. Luckily the temperature had stayed in the mid-fifties and the wind had died down. As we sat enjoying our breakfast we watched as the sky filled with threatening clouds that started blowing things around outside.
We spent the early part of the morning getting caught up on our E-mail and Blog reading before doing the usual chores. Our Neighbours Ted and Eileen stopped by their trailer to drop a few things off and said they had followed our travels while we were away. We decided on an early lunch of Vegetable Soup so that we could both get into a few things we wanted to accomplish this afternoon.
Kathy had gone through the stack of mail yesterday that we’d received while we were away this winter. Having gathered everything that we would need to file our Income Tax Returns by the end of the month, this afternoon she sat down to organize it so that it would be a quick process for our accountant and it would save us a few dollars in the process.
I went outside to first verify the Tarp and all the Wooden Blocks that I had covered the Damaged Skylight Lens on the roof were still in place protecting us from any water damage. Then using the Tamper on the Soft Ground Damage from yesterday I manage to get it another few steps to being close to flat. I added our Water Splitter that we purchased at the Dollarama yesterday before starting to rake up all the broken twigs on the ground. I also tried to bag a mountain of dried leaves that had gathered by our Shed and Firewood Rack only to have the 31 MPH Wind Gusts blow them right back out of the bag. That chore will have to wait for a calmer day.
When we left to go south last Fall we really weren’t sure when we would be back Home to McGregor so we had planned on just staying Home for the day. Our daughter Karen must have sensed that and called around 2:00 to see what we were doing and to invite us for supper.
We arrived slightly early and had a chance to do more visiting. The Easter Meal was a Tasty Glazed Ham, with Mashed Potatoes, Mashed Sweet Potatoes, steamed Cauliflower and Broccoli. It was perfect but the chance to visit with these loved ones was perfect. We did miss them as much as they missed us while we were gone but we’ll still continue to travel while we can.
Our grandson Tyler has a part-time job at McDonalds and Greg was about to drive him at 7:00 but since it was not that much out of our way we offered to drive him there. It served a double purpose because that gave us more time to visit with Tyler. After dropping him off we changed our mind about going straight Home and drove around our old neighbourhood in LaSalle. It has been so long that we have passed that way we were surprised how much things had changed.
Back Home we are still adjusting to our reduced living space because we were told not to extend the kitchen slide. We are just taking it as a different kind of adventure but we sure hope the parts come in soon.
In some of the Blogs we read they have posted stats on their winter travels to the southwest. I don’t have all the numbers like they did but here is what we do have. We drove the truck a total of 9390.6 miles but only towed the trailer 6799.8 miles. That meant we added 2590.8 miles doing shopping, taking day trips and exploring the areas we were in. I was laxed in keeping track of our fuel costs this year but it gives us a better idea for future trips.
Tomorrow we will be mixing Errands with Chores in order to get settled back in for the season. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

Joke of the Day

Q: What does it mean when the Easter Bunny arrives one day late with melted candy?

A: He probably had a bad hare day.

  1. That was an interesting stat abut distance with the trailer and without.

  2. Our GPS has a fuel section, where you can keep track of the price, amount, and MPG. It's easy to do and it will automatically put in the station where we you fueled up.
