Warmer Back Home, Still Exploring and Planning Our Return To Ontario.

Our Location today is La Posa South LTVA, Quartzsite, Arizona, U.S.A. 

We both managed to have a good nights sleep even though the temperature did drop down to 43 F (6 C) just before we got up at 8:00 MST. Notice I didn’t say wake up because it felt much more inviting to stay put under our warm and snuggly bedcovers then to even think about getting out of bed. The easiest way to deal with those temperatures was to immediately put on a Hoodie to keep warm and start making breakfast. It was a wonderful feeling seeing the bright cloudless sky and by lifting the window shades we could even feel a faint sense of warmth coming through the glass.

After turning on the Main Inverter we settled in at the Computers hoping to get caught up with what is happening in the world. The Weather Network once again showing McGregor being twelve degrees warmer then we were at the time. The blogs we follow allows us to know the writers as if we’ve known them all our lives and the same goes for those reading this post. Good News is that the U.S. Congress is now considering Snowbirding Visas that might even allow Canadian Snowbirds in the United States for a longer period of time. It seems they finally realize that we are helping the U.S. Economy with all the money we spend here buying not only groceries but fuel and sometimes a bunch of things we add to our must have lists.

Since the light wind was still bity outside we chose to have an early light lunch. While Kathy assembled the Ham and Vegie Wraps I put together the Blackberries over Yogurt with a dollop of Cool Whip for flavouring. Kathy also found some mini Eclairs to top it all off calling it our One Dish Meal. 

By 12:00 we were on our way towards Quartzsite but instead of going through the traffic lights I turned on Tyson Wells Road. The Big Tent has been gone since the end of January and there are only a handful of vendors still left yet there are drivers that shop from their cars while on the road. There was plenty of parking spots but they drive slower then a crawl deciding if they should stop before moving off the road.

RV Lifestyles celebrating 30 years in Quartzsite,

We drove over to RV Lifestyles on Dome Rock Road in hopes of getting a few RV related products. They have been in Quartzsite for Thirty Years and at their present location for the last Twenty-Three Years and managed to cover all our needs at a reasonable price. They carry RV, Marine and Off-Road type of merchandise. Having witnessed plenty of people driving around Quartzsite all winter on ATVs and Side-by-Sides we thought we would see what they are worth. We were surprised that you could by a decent used car for the price that they were asking for most of those UTVs.

When we had stayed out on Dome Rock Road before we went for a hike to the mountains but had only driven part way down Cholla Road up to a Four-Way Stop at Pipeline Road. Today our goal was to see what was actually out there. What we found was Rainbow Acres RV Home Community. All the lots are the same size but it is up to the owner what they put on the lot. Some had a home with space to park their RV and Vehicles, others had just a Utility Post with a garden shed to the rear of the lot and there were a few that had up to four large RVs all plugged in at separate posts. All the lots had three-foot high Metal Fences held by the same style of Brick Posts with Metal Gates. Even on the lots where a vehicle looked to be missing but the RV was there the gates were closed and there were no messy lots. With each lot having their own gate it’s easy to surmise that this would be a Gated Community. We’d spent over an hour checking out this well-maintained area. 

From there we headed over to Family Dollar where we took our time just looking at things. We found the Mixing Spoon we couldn’t find at other stores, a Long-Sleeved Sleeping Top for my Raynaud’s problem and few other things. When it came time to checkout we again surprised this clerk when we used the TAP method of payment. This is something we’ve had for years in Ontario but the first time I used it here in Quartzsite the clerk thought that I’d broken his machine. 

Back Home we used the rest of the afternoon to do some research on the route that we’ll be taking when we head for McGregor in April. That gives us an idea of the route we’ll take, where we may stop to look around along the way and how long it will take.

Around 5:00 I grilled a pizza on our Weber that we got at the Family Dollar. Our temp actually hit 75 F (24 C) this afternoon but you had to stay in the Sun and out of the Wind to feel it. We are expecting one last cool night but we’ll try to get things finished around here tomorrow so we can have more free time to do more Exploring.
