Cover-Up and Clean-Up Almost Complete.

Our Location today is McGregor, Ontario, Canada.

When we went to bed last night the Humidex was still holding at 90 F (32 C) so we simply left the AC running. Within a half hour we started hearing loud rumbles of thunder outside and before we knew it the rain was pounding hard enough on the roof it sounded like a drum. When we got up at 8:00 this morning the temperature was down to 59 F (15 C) with a light breeze. We had all the windows and vents opened and the AC turned off before having our breakfast.
Morning visitor. As soon as we got the camera he turned away.
We barely spent any time on the computers before heading outside. Kathy busied herself cleaning the outside of the trailer. She was upset with the fact we haven’t had time to clean the trailer yet this spring because we’ve been too busy getting projects completed or the weather had not cooperated.

I had planned on making the metal Pinbox covers for our trailer as well as our neighbours Bob and Sherri in order to stop the birds from making another nest. I needed to use the picnic table as a work surface but when I attempted to remove the umbrella pole it didn’t want to budge. When I had drilled the hole it was a perfect fit, not too loose but definitely not this tight. Once the pole was finally removed I had to use the wood rasp to loosen the hole before I even started my intended job. Placing an old rug that is used for just this type thing on the table to prevent scratching I was able to layout both metal covers before Kathy called me for lunch.
Using the picnic table as a work surface making the Pinbox covers.
After lunch we both returned to our tasks. Making a cardboard template for an awkward piece of metal is not unusual. When shaping the metal with hand tools the results tend to be different than when using machines. The bends tend to have more of a radius to its edge when formed and when cutting 16-gauge material with tin snips that are meant to cut lighter material it does take longer. I first created our cover so any adjustments that had to be made could be done before any shaping would be made for our neighbour’s trailer. After having to reroute some wiring on our trailer I finally had our cover completed and installed. The wiring requires a couple of connectors I don’t have so that can be finished tomorrow.

For supper I grilled a couple of Brisket burgers while Kathy made a small batch of Alfredo spaghetti along with a Caesar salad for sides. It all tasted great and wasn’t overly filling.
A soon as the 6 o’clock news was over we went across the street to Bob and Sherri’s trailer. They are still working so they weren’t there. Once I’d dismounted the junction box while Kathy held the pail I was able to clean out nearly a full bucket of twigs, grass, mud and feathers from inside their pinbox. Once that was cleaned out the cover fit perfectly with no alterations to the wiring I had everything installed in less than five minutes. I wish our pinbox would have been that easy.
Still watering our new grass.
Kathy and I sat outside for a while longer enjoying the fresh air, moderate temperatures and cool breeze. We also watched a number of birds going to our neighbour’s trailer only to fly away because they couldn’t make a nest in the pinbox.
End to another good day.
Our plans for tomorrow are written in Jello so who knows what we’ll be up to. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!
