Still Making Progress.

Our Location today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

As we watched the 6 o’clock News last night the weather forecaster repeated what we’d already heard on the Weather Network that we were doomed to a late winter storm by this afternoon. As a way of continuing our progress towards our Fulltiming Adventure we had to make changes to our plans. I had to make a phone call to our son Kevin to tell him we’d be at his place earlier than normal for our weekly visit.
This morning we went through our usual routines breakfast &computer reading but that changed with an early lunch. We were out the door by 12:00 bring with us rain resistant clothing but also light weight winter clothing. The gusting north wind was a constant reminder of what time of year it was and in this area spring is always throwing surprises at us.
Our first stop was a tree removal service that sold firewood on the side with the intention of making a purchasing. Even though the sign on the door said they were open there was nobody around to answer my knocking on the door. Kathy’s answer was you snooze you lose so we headed in the direction of Amherstburg by the back roads. The reason we did that was because we had seen individuals who also sold firewood from their homes but at the time we had driven by because we were not in the market at the time.
It wasn’t long before we arrived at Brian’s home and he gave us a tour of his different wood piles. We took his phone number and set a tentative time we might return. His wood was priced higher but split in smaller sizes making it better for campfires.
It was just after 1:00 by the time we arrived at our son Kevin’s home to find he wasn’t home. When Kevin drove in the driveway with a loaner vehicle from Canadian Tire we knew he had a problem. The brakes on his truck had failed this morning due to a rusted line.
We started cleaning along the outside of his garage where we planned on installing the newly purchased firewood racks. Since it was so cold outside it was a welcoming feeling working inside the garage to assemble them. Just before Kevin had to leave to pick up Cameron from high school he received a call from Melissa saying she had to work until 6:00 this evening. At that point Kathy said we’d head for home and visit another night.
Instead of returning the way we had to get to Kevin’s we thought we’d take a different route. We drove past the Wildwood Golf and RV Park so that we could drive down Manning Road to get home. Since we also traveled down the same road going to SX Video for our computer repairs we thought possibly that was where we had seen the other home selling firewood. We were right! The gentleman came out explaining the different woods that were split smaller piled in a larger amounts and priced lower than Brian had. We’ll be picking up a load of Maple firewood and bringing it out to our son Kevin’s on Friday.
We made a quick stop at the Credit Union for some banking. With having worked off our early lunch we decided to go to the Michigan Diner for a Fish and Chip for an early supper.  We never got the heavy rain we were supposed to today so we hope we are as lucky on Friday. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

  1. Good you didn't settle for Brian's wood. It would be just our luck that we would have bought wood from Brian and then find the cheaper price. Murphy's law.
