Bad News, Good News And A Visit.

Our Location today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

After having a restless night of sleep I was still up before 7:30 this morning. I got busy setting things up for breakfast before getting an early start on my morning computer reading. Luckily not too many people had written their posts last night so I was nearly finished by the time Kathy got up. After breakfast as we were about to do the dishes we were shocked to find there was no running water. We’d forgotten the notice by the door saying it would be shut off at 9:00 this morning and we hadn’t gotten prepared.
I had planned to go outside to rearrange the back of the truck in preparation of picking up our load of firewood tomorrow. Looking outside everything was bleak and wet. The weather guessers had forecasted morning showers so as I was about to go outside around 9:30 the skies opened to a torrential downpour. Even wearing my raincoat, I would have been soaked it I’d gotten outside minutes earlier. Kathy suggested just waiting until tomorrow morning when things would be dryer.
The phone rang before I’d got my coat off so Kathy took the call. It was our building manager Dan telling us that the young couple that had said they would rent our apartment had just called to cancel because he was being transferred to Toronto. That meant that the Air Conditioner, Upright Freezer and bathroom shelf that they planned to buy was also out the window. Kathy said “she felt like she had just had the wind knocked out of her sails.” We had turned down offers from our online ads minutes after their visit so now we had to repost everything on Kijiji.
The rain did not make going outside very inviting so we were starting to have lunch when our good friend Pauline called to say she was coming to visit around 1:00. We were surprised to find the water had been turned on again and we had just finished washing the dishes Dan the building manager knocked on our door. He said he had a woman wanting to see the apartment but it had to be today because she was working all weekend. Since he is supposed to give us Twenty-Four Hours Notice he had to ask if we would mind. Kathy said why not but told him we’d be having company.
Pauline arrived on schedule and had only been here about ten minutes when Al called inquiring about the Air Conditioner. We continued our visit with Pauline when Dan arrived with the potential tenant. She was impressed by the apartment and the building. Al arrived around 2:00 and after a quick look at the Air Conditioner was happy to buy it.
Pauline had barely left the building around 3:00 when we received a call from Bill asking about our Upright Freezer. He arrived within ten minutes and was very satisfied with it but he asked if he could leave it with us. We told him it would have to be gone by no later than the middle of April and he said perfect. He also said we could use it until then.
Kathy has also been answering E-mails about the bathroom shelf after removing the sold items from Kijiji. She also said that “her sails were full again.” Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!
