Our Location today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.
Maybe my body is trying to get ready for the change of our
clocks to Daylight Savings Time this
coming Sunday because I was once again wide awake and opening the drapes in the
living room by 7:00 this morning. I had time to get things set up in the
kitchen for breakfast before turning on my laptop. Of course sensing that I was
no longer in bed next to her Kathy was joining me by 7:30. The sky was cloud
covered but there seemed to be a calmness because the last of the snow had
totally melted away.
Last week I mentioned how we’d had to replace Kathy’s laptop due
to a fried motherboard that was just over two years old. Well the hinge on my
laptop had failed back when we were away in North Carolina and all I could do to limp it along was
to be certain something was behind it to support the screen. This was something
we would have to address before leaving the apartment so after getting Kathy’s
laptop up and running I went on E-bay and got a heck of a bargain on a nearly
identical laptop.
Once we’d finished breakfast this morning the first thing I did
was to track the whereabouts of my purchase. It was purchased on a Canadian site but shipped from the US. It originated in Ohio got shipped to Kentucky before traveling to Toronto before coming back to Windsor and finally ending up in Tecumseh. When I looked at the tracking this
morning it showed an unsuccessful attempt to deliver had been made while we
were at home last evening. I immediately went downstairs looking for a
notification posted on the wall and even looked in our mail box to find no
notice of delivery. I used the tracking number that I’d been E-mailed to contact Canada
Post, UPS, Fedex, Purolator and CanPar with no luck. Kathy found the phone
number to E-Bay online and when I called to explain the problem they gave me a
totally different tracking number and the location of the Post
Office my parcel was
being held at. Driving to that location the clerk had another problem finding
it because even the new number was incorrect. She finally tracked it down by simply
using my name. I’m certain my blood pressure rose considerably today as well as
massive amounts of hair being pulled at the roots.
After lunch we stopped in at the nearby U-Haul outlet to purchase a couple of chair
coverings to be used in our Climate
Controlled Storage Unit. We then drove to Alexander Park in Windsor where we could park and attempt to
update our minutes on our Trac Phone.
I had purchased more time and minutes for it some time back but it has yet to
update on the phone. The park we were at is the closest point in Windsor to the city of Detroit,
Michigan where we
normally can connect to the US phone
towers. Unfortunately it still didn’t update as it usually does so I’ll be on
the phone to Trac Phone soon.
We stopped at our friends Kathie and Ross’s
apartment for a visit. We
haven’t seen them since before Christmas so we had a lot of catching up to do. Kathie and Kathy were
having their conversations of everything happening in both the families while
Ross and I talked shop. Then every once and a while it was a cross conversation
that we all became involved in.
It was past 3:00 by the time we left and we still had to make
a few stops. We stopped at Staples so that I could purchase the Microsoft Office for the new computer.
Then we went to Home Depot to see what kind of sheds they had in
stock for our seasonal site at Wildwood Golf and RV Park.
After getting home the first thing I did was go downstairs to
check the mail. The only thing inside our mailbox was a ticket advising me that
my computer was at the Post Office. The temperature actually hit 66 F (19 C) (which was warmer
than some parts of Mexico today) so when we got home we opened all the windows to air the
apartment out. I later fired up our Weber
Q and grilled a great tasting steak that we shared along with the fixings
that Kathy had made. It wasn’t a record setting day but we loved every minute
of it. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a
comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!
It’s about time.

Gotta love that warm sunny weather yesterday, hope it stays like this now until we get back.
ReplyDeleteI've had a few of those postal mix ups myself. The items having the right zip code and still end up at the wrong post office.
ReplyDeleteHow frustrating not to receive the laptop when you were home!
ReplyDeleteWe have my dad on our Verizon account, but he rarely uses his cell phone. He has a land line and only uses the cell phone when the land line is down or when he is driving to his sister's home just to give her a heads up he is coming. We kids all want him to have the cell phone for emergencies. I was thinking of changing him over to a Trac Phone. Any tips you can give me for making a purchase? Thanks.
