Our Location today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.
I could tell we had the windows all closed last night
because of the cold night time temperatures. It is way too early to be turning
on the heat so we simply suffered with the stale air inside the apartment for
the night. I managed to get a few hours at each end of the night but amazingly
was up before 8:00 this morning. The weather for the next two weeks is slowly
sliding where we don’t want it to be but at least we’re not getting what the
northern part of the province is getting.
While doing our morning reading on the computers I received a
call from our daughter Karen. Tyler was working on a school project and needed
a few photos reworked so she asked if I could do them this morning. I have no
problem helping with that kind of thing as I’ve photo-shopped many pictures
over the years. She E-mailed them to me so I could start working on them before
they arrived. Tyler came up first and by the time Karen arrived she was in
shock to see him eating an Ice Cream Cone that Kathy had made him. Hey he’s a
growing boy!
Shortly after they left we had Ham and Cheese wraps for
lunch. That gave us very little time before we had to load things that we were
bringing for supper into the truck. Our next stop was at McDonald’s for a
couple of coffees to help warm us up since the outside temperature was 50 F (10
C) at the time with Wind Chills that were much lower. Once we had our coffees
we were on our way to the New Belle River Arena to watch our grandson Tyler
play hockey.
Today they were playing against the Tecumseh Travel team. Tyler
left Tecumseh this season because they didn’t have any house leagues in his
division. When today’s game started the two teams were evenly matched then the
travel team scored twice in very short order. Going into the third period two
points down after a quick pep talk from the coach Tyler’s team came alive and
soon had the game tied. But the game wasn’t over and after a couple of penalties
were issued to both teams Tyler’s team scored the winning goal with only 12
seconds remaining in the game.
After the game we left Karen and Greg to get Tyler while Kathy
and I headed cross country from Belle River all the way to our son Kevin’s home
in Amherstburg doing the trip in less than fifty minutes. We arrived in time to
help Melissa put the finishing touches on her part of our family Thanksgiving
Dinner. Yes we know that the Canadian Thanksgiving is not until next Monday the
13th but not everyone is available on that day so we just moved it
up a week.
By the time Karen, Greg and Tyler arrived with their meal
contributions it was time to start mashing the potatoes. Since I’ve had a lot
of practice with that I volunteered. By the time Kylla and Noah arrived with a
few bottles of wine dinner was ready to be served. It was a feast that said if
you went away hungry it was your own fault. The food was served in the kitchen
and then brought out to the garage where everybody had room to sit and enjoy
their meals
Everyone was having fun talking about the past and
astonishing the grandkids as they listened to the things their parents used to
do when they were younger. After everyone had their fill there was still a full
table of desserts for everyone to snack on. Poor Noah had never experienced
that type of hospitality but he loved it and fit right in.
When it was time to clean up I became the dishwasher while
Karen dried. Heather was busy packing the leftovers away for everyone to take
home and share. Melissa was filling the fridge and putting the dishes away
since she was the only one who knew where they went. Before long everyone was
saying there good byes with plans of meeting again at Christmas
in 81 days.
With tomorrow being another day closer to our departure we have
to start getting things accomplished. Thanks for following along and feel free
to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!
It’s about time.
