Our Location today is Huntsville, Ontario, Canada.
It is amazing what cooler fresh air and long hours on the
road will do when you go to bed. We slept so soundly a bomb would not have woke
us from our sleep. We even slept later than normal waking after 8:30 this
morning. It felt good to get our rest!
When we woke up this morning it was cold inside the trailer
and we had plans to attend the morning pancake breakfast so we dressed for cold
weather. Was that a mistake! We walked all the way down to the beach area
enjoyed our pancakes sausage and coffee and got a chance to socialize with a
few of the other campers. After the long walk back to the trailer through the
crowded campground we were both boiling hot and had to quickly change back to
summer time clothes.
After lunch we headed toward the town of Huntsville but on
the way we stopped to check out a home that was putting on a Charitable Yard Sale
that also had entertainment as well as a barbecue and baked goods in order to
raise funds. It would have been a great place to shop if one was trying to
set up a home.
Finally arriving in Huntsville we found ourselves a central
place to park so we could walk around looking at all the touristy shops and yet
be close to the entertainment that would take place later in the evening. It
was unbelievable the changes that have taken place to this small community
since the last time we were here ten years ago. We finally stopped at The Mill
on Main restaurant around 4:30 for a relaxing and restful supper where had a
chance to talk of the interesting things we had just seen.
The reason we took our time having supper was tonight was
the start of the Great White North
Festival which is held yearly. Main Street
was closed to vehicular traffic and there were approximately 93 Canadian
entertainers located throughout the venue brought
in as buskers to give everyone in attendance their choice of entertainment for
the night. Most of the local shops remained open past their usual
hours of business as well as a number of street vendors had appeared all doing
booming business. There were acrobatic acts juggling entertainers on stilts
drum bands and lots of things for the kids to do.
Needless to say by the time we got home it was well past our
bedtime but we’ll make up for it in the morning. Thanks for following along and
feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!
It’s about time.
