It was an Unbelievable Day at Work. When the Owner had me disassemble the Hydraulic System on a Job because it was not fully retracting so I did it. When he had me measure the Mechanism on the floor to be certain that it was under Six Inches I did it. Before he walked away he said “If it’s less then Six Inches it will work” I didn’t believe it.

Having a Mechanism flat on the floor is one thing but putting it in the assembly is another. Once it was mounted I noticed an Angle underneath where it should have been Flat. I started measuring and using the Workbench like a Drafting Table making sketches with measurements. When the Owner returned I presented this information with all the measurements I had taken. I showed him a sketch of what we had and what I thought would fix the problem. For the second time this week he shocked me by agreeing with me. That meant I had to start cutting a couple of Brackets off the Frame while he went to have the new pieces cut to the new specifications.

I think the term ‘No good deed goes unpunished” applies here because the next thing I know I was been reassigned to repair a Spot-Welder. Spot-Welders have been used in Industry for many years but I never operated one let alone do repairs. Once the Problem was described and we started taking it apart we found broken parts that are no longer available. That meant making parts with the few tools we had on hand. By the end of the Shift the Spot-Welder was working the way it should and the New Pieces for the Hydraulic Frame were sitting on my Workbench.

This was another day that Kathy and I went looking at things we saw on the Facebook Marketplace. It was another disappointing day when it was nothing compared to what was advertise. We started in East Windsor then ended up on the West Side before travelling out to LaSalle before we realized the time.
We stopped at the joint Harvey’s/Swiss Chalet to have supper. At first we went in thinking of just getting a Burger but when we looked at Both Menus side by side we changed our minds. We shared a 5 Piece Chicken Wing Combo along with Spring Roll Appetizer and were more then satisfied.
Soon we were headed back towards Walker Road so we could pick up some snacks for company this evening. We stopped in at the Real Canadian Superstore where Kathy found a Small Chocolate Cake and a Fruit Tray.

We then headed back to Work to pick up the Truck before heading for Home. Kathy parked the Car on our Site while I put the truck in the Overflow Parking Area. I’d barely gotten things put away when our son Kevin and daughter-in-law Melissa arrived for a visit. We normally visit them but this was a nice change of pace for them.

They enjoyed the snack of Cake and Fruit that Kathy served as a snack. We had our usual enjoyable visit that included lots of laughter. Before they left I showed the Planks that our neighbour gave us to give to them. They can park their Trailers on them during the Winter Season to preserve their Tires.

After we said our Good Nights I retrieved the Truck from the Overflow Area. We have Rain forecasted in our area around the time I would be leaving for Work so this way I won’t get so wet. Kathy has her Follow-Up Appointment with the Surgeon who fixed her Hand tomorrow so we’ll let you know how that turns out. Thank you for following along and feel free to leave a comment.
Be Safe and Enjoy!

  2. Yeah that boss doesn't sound like he knows much. It's hard to work for those people.

  3. I agree the owner sounds very frustrating. Bet you'll be really glad to get out of there. Are you planning on working when you get back home in the spring? Sounds like a great visit, and they got something nice to take home!

  4. Most people don't quit their work, they quit their bosses... The best is to work for yourself, but I know that is not always the easiest.
