Our Location today is McGregor, Ontario,
Canada.
With yesterday’s nonstop rainfall
continuing throughout the night along with 46
F (8 C) temperatures we both
slept like a couple of rocks. Sleeping soundly through the night was not a
problem it was waking up at a reasonable hour that nearly didn’t happen. With
the miserable weather expected to continue through this morning we made plans
that we’d run our errands and hopefully be back Home by lunch time.
It was past 10:00 by the time we headed
for Windsor with our first stop being VitalAire where we planned to pick up our CPAP supplies before heading south. Taryn had called in sick today so
the woman that was replacing her didn’t have a clue as to what we were talking
about Vacation Supplies. She couldn’t
find our orders that we had been told were ready for pick up on Wednesday but
would have put a new one together if we wanted to wait or come back in a couple
of hours. Since we will be back to Windsor at least once next week we
said we stop back then.
The next stop was Cartridge World where we dropped off our old Inkjet
Cartridges to have them refilled. We have learned that they need to refill
the cartridges that we have used in our own printer otherwise it will not
except refilled cartridges and won’t work. That’s because the printer’s
manufacturers program them not to use anything but their high-priced products.
This way we do save money and we keep used cartridges out of the landfills. Our
cartridges will be ready next week.
At that point we headed to Guardian Storage where after getting our Mail
we went to our Climate Controlled
Storage Unit to get additional clothes for our trip south especially socks.
With the sudden change of weather our feet are freezing. Having travelled to Florida we knew we could wear sandals once we arrived in the warmer
climate. Not having been to the southwest in the winter we want to do some
short hikes so we’ll need socks for our shoes.
Upon leaving the storage yard we drove
over to the Green Shield office where Kathy submitted her claim
from Healthy Heals. We have to pay up front but
get it reimbursed in less than a week.
Next we drove to Princess Auto where just last week I had purchased the Wire Pulling Tool that I’d used to run the cables to the Junction Box on the roof of the
trailer. When we picked up our mail on Tuesday their Sale Flyer advertised the same tool at a forty percent discount.
They had no objection refunding the difference back to our account. While there
I needed additional supplies that will help me get everything finished before
we leave.
Because of the delay at VitalAire it was
now past noon so we chose to stop at Dairy Queen where we each enjoyed one of their Chicken Wrap Combos which included a Chicken Wrap, Fries, a Soft Drink and
an Ice Cream Sundae for six dollars.
We were nicely satisfied and not overly stuffed. Coming outside it was still
cool but the rain had finally stopped.
We drove to Walmart where we picked up a few
groceries to tide us over until we leave. Kathy is still working at reducing the
meats we have in our freezer and the vegetables and fruits in the fridge before
we cross the International Border. There are restrictions on
what we can take with us.
A quick stop at Dollarama Kathy found the plastic over the door coat hooks she had
been looking for.
Back Home by 2:30 after hauling our purchases
inside and changing our clothes I started bringing our yard Fairies, Gnomes and Mushrooms in
for Kathy to clean up. We don’t want to leave them exposed to the winter
weather so once the shed gets rearranged that is where they will spend the
winter.
I also managed to find the wires needed
to hook up the controls to our Inverters in the basement to the switches I’ll
mount in our control box in the kitchen. As I put together the wires to make
the harness our neighbour Rick came over to talk for a while. With the
afternoon temperature of 52 F (11 C) and a cool breeze out of the
north he didn’t stay too long.
Kathy used the last of the Homemade Beef Stew on a bed of Egg Noodles which made for a very tasty
supper and helped to warm us up.
A few years back while we were in Florida as I was filling our pill doucettes shortly before we were
to head Home I noticed we were short by quite a few
pills on one of Kathy’s medications. Luckily we arrived Home before she ran out and simply ordered a refill. I track our
meds on the computer and knew that those should have lasted longer. The
pharmacy argued that I had miscounted the pills. That was the problem, I hadn’t
counted the pills after we’d picked them up. Since that time, every time we
pick up prescribed medications I count them all so that’s what I spent most of
my evening doing. We also no longer deal with the pharmacy that cheated us.
Tomorrow we’ll continue getting things ready
for our southern travels. We also have an afternoon hockey game to attend. The
north wind is still gusting to above twenty MPH along with a low of 37 F
(3 C) tonight you can bet we’ll have
our furnace on. Thanks for following along and
feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!
It’s about time.

To me that is a joke that the companies make their printers only accept REAL cartridges. It is all about the money.
