Catching up, Wet Weather and More Hockey.

Our Location today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

With all the fresh air that was coming in our open windows last night we both slept past 8:30 this morning. Even while we were having breakfast and watching the Weather Channel we had a hard time focusing on the screen because we felt groggy. Sitting at the computers this morning the wind that was blowing in the partially opened office window felt the same as sitting in front of one of the fans on high speed.

By 10:00 I was once again setting up the tarp and folding workbench in the living room. After having made a couple of blunders that has set me back time wise on the trailer project I needed to do a little catching up. First I needed to shave three quarters of an inch off the height of three panels because I decide not to make the mortising as deep as originally planned. Once they were finished I then had to remake the two shelves that I had shortchanged a half inch on the width and length.

I finished just in time for lunch as Kathy was serving homemade chicken stroganoff and she made it spicy just the way I like it. After helping with the lunch dishes I reloaded all my tools and materials in the truck before cleaning the living room to be certain to leave no traces of this morning’s activities.
Working the puck out of his end zone.
By 2:00 as we were getting ready to head out the door but the clouds were really filling the sky. Since the forecast was calling for more wet weather like last night we figured it to be safer to turn on the Air Conditioner and close the windows rather than coming home to wet floors.

Again we were headed to the new Belle River Arena to watch our grandson Tyler play hockey. Even Greg his dad was there to watch him play today. Unfortunately Tyler’s team was playing against a more experience team today so even though the action was non-stop the end result was not in his team’s favor.

Waiting for the players after the game I met John who I used to work with in our plant as a Pipe-Fitter but was laid-off the same year I retired. It turns out that John’s son is also on Tyler’s team so we’ll be visiting before upcoming games in the future.

On the way home the skies opened up to the point of slowing the traffic down. We were very glad we’d closed the windows back at the apartment.

Karen had us stop by her house because they had to attend a wake this evening so they wouldn’t be home for our weekly Sunday night visit. She had gotten quite a bargain at the fruit market the other day on tomatoes and thought some would spoil before she could use them all. That was when she remembered we made homemade tomato soup and decided to pass them on to us. “Thank You Karen we can already taste them”.

It was now past 5:00 and Kathy had a taste for some Fish and Chips. The best place for those in our area is at the Michigan Diner on Manning Road and since they have a Senior’s Menu we still ate our fill at a reduced rate.
Seconds after taking this picture heavy rain started falling.
Tonight we’ll be sleeping with the windows ajar again so I’m sure we’ll sleep soundly. Tomorrow the phone is going to be busy around here plus we have other things that need to be done since we only have 96 days before our southern departure. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!
