Hunkered Down Windy Day, Update on Daughter.

Our Location today is Moore Haven, Florida.

Last night we made certain to close the windows because the forecast showed that after the storm blew through our area the temperature would drop and they were right. The forecast showed a low of 55 F (7 C) but our thermometer was reading 46 F (8C) when I looked out the window. The temp did rise through the course of the day but so did the winds up to 30 mph (50 kph).
Last night's forecast.
After having our breakfast and making the bed I ventured outside to not only test the temperature but also to see if we sustained any damage due to the overnight storm. Looking at the trailer and gazebo everything looked just fine but when I walked around behind I noticed the tension lines on the gazebo were loose. A second look showed that the anchor pegs to hold it in place were laying on the ground inches from where the legs were. It seemed the wind was trying to remake a scene from the movie the Wizard of Oz but had only pulled two of the four pegs completely out of ground.
Once I’d better secured the gazebo we ventured down to the workout room to refill our fresh water jug because the high Sulphur content in the water being plumbed into the trailer is not to appealing to drink or smell.
With the high winds we just hunkered down until it was time to grill up some Zucchinis and Bacon wrapped Filet Mignon. Adding that to the Sautéed Mushrooms, potato salad and Chow Chow we had a filling but balanced supper.
Our daughter Karen
A special Thank You to those who expressed concern about our daughter Karen’s recovery from a traffic accident yesterday. She was on her way to work at the University of Windsor and because of all the snow they have been getting the last two months she used the E.C. Row Expressway yesterday to go to work. When she got to her off-ramp the traffic was at a standstill. The road was clear and there was another vehicle behind her when a car driven by a nineteen year old drove into the rear of the other vehicle at the posted speed limit 100 kph (62.5 mph). The impact blew all the windows out of that vehicle and it started a chain reaction resulting in an 8 car pileup. Her car was hit from behind and pushed into the car in front of her. Seven people including our daughter were brought to the hospital by Ambulance. It is suspected the young driver was texting while driving but we haven’t heard anything concrete. He has been charged with careless driving and our daughter is recovering at home with a Concussion.

The wind is supposed to diminish and the weather should become more seasonal tomorrow which will help us to be more active. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

  2. I am so glad to learn your daughter is going to be okay. That texting while driving is downright deadly! These days I seldom have the radio on while driving... to many distractions with the crazies out there!
