Cool Research Day.

Our Location today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

It seems Kathy and I are getting into a bad habit and it’s not because we are trying. It seems that we have nights that neither of us can get a restful sleep. This normally happens three to four days in a row before we actually wake up refreshed. The big problem is when that happens we start sleeping in later even once we are sleeping better.
That’s what happened this morning even though we were rested we slept past 9:00 and we had work we needed to accomplish in the apartment and on the computers. The fact that we haven’t seen the sun break through the clouds in a number of days doesn’t help because the sun is not waking us by not shining in our windows.
After breakfast I made a few phone calls to line up appointments for tomorrow. Kathy kept researching more possible stops for our January trip to Florida. She originally had everything all planned out until the other day when I asked “What If”? With such a simple question the last two days have been turned upside down as we continue to reschedule things because we find that “Yes We Can” is looking really good. It was written in jello and now Kathy has a lot more research to complete.
After a late lunch of Kathy’s homemade beef soup she continued researching while I went downstairs to do our laundry. Surprisingly nobody else was there so I managed to get the washing done and the clothes in the dryers before anyone else came in.
Since this is Halloween night Melissa asked if we’d be able to postpone our Wednesday night visit until tomorrow thus giving Kevin a chance to bring the boys out Trick-or-Treating if the weather wasn’t too bad. We had made the offer before but with everyday life happening around a growing family it is no wonder that they didn’t understand what we were saying. So we’ll be seeing them tomorrow instead.
Kathy and I would like to welcome Karen Lueck from the blog RV Travels with Karen and Al as a new follower to our blog. We have read their blog for well over a year from before they visited the Keys all the way through their recent trip and back to get out of the path of hurricane Isaac back in August. Again Thanks for following along and hope we’ll be able to keep your interest.
Amongst other things we also noted that Christmas is now only 54 days away. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

The Effects of Sandy

Our Location today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

The lights in the parking lot showed the rain and leaves flying by the windows as if they had been launched off a catapult. Even after we went to bed the windows sounded like they were being used as drums. Of course that meant that our sleep was constantly interrupted by the loud noises throughout the night.
When we awoke this morning it was no longer raining and the wind had slowed to a light breeze. Looking out the window at the cloud filled sky it didn’t look any more peaceful than it had last night before dark. The difference was that these clouds contained much cooler air. People walking their dogs were bundled in winter coats even though the temperature was above freezing.
With us sleeping late did not help us to feel any more rested. As we ate our breakfast and watched the news we were witness to the destruction left behind by hurricane Sandy. The force of her winds causing major flooding, toppling trees across wires that started fires that were fanned by the wind and destroying complete neighborhoods. No matter what precautions had been taken to protect these landmarks it was all in vain. Now all that can be done is to clean up and rebuild.
Today as we worked on our computers I asked a question about our upcoming trip down south in January. The next thing you know we were both looking up different things.
As most RVers say that their plans are written in Jello so they stay flexible. Well our plans just changed moving our departure date ahead. This would put us in the State of Florida earlier. That would allow us to attend a few events that happen at the end of the month without having to really rush.
Hopefully we’ll sleep better tonight knowing that Christmas is now only 55 days away. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

Cool Errand Day.

Our Location today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

Last night both Kathy and I had a restless night’s sleep. By the time we woke this morning it was past 9:30 and we were expecting somebody at the apartment by 10:00. It seemed we were both into high gear getting ourselves dressed, breakfast made and three-quarter eaten by the time our apartment intercom rang right at 10:00.
The visit this morning was the result of the downsizing and purging Kathy has been doing recently. When we were living in our home we had quite a collection of wine in our basement with racks that held over a hundred bottles as well as a Refrigerated Wine Cellar. By the time we moved we only needed the refrigerated wine cellar. Kathy has always been cautious not to overindulge in the wine too much because a few years back she was diagnosed with Diabetes. So her once a week glass of wine is now a once a month or two on special occasions. Today we sold our large Refrigerated Wine Cellar to a younger gentleman who is slowly building himself a large collection of varying wines.
After helping him load it in his vehicle I finished eating my now cold breakfast before leaving on an errand. Since I no longer have a garage to work on our vehicles I took Kathy’s car for an oil change. Surprisingly they were able to get it right in and I was back home by noon.
Today with the drop in temperature, rain showers and increase in winds due to the effects of hurricane Sandy nice hot soup hit the spot perfectly for lunch.
We needed to run another errand this afternoon to the Credit Union as Kathy was having problems doing our online banking. The tellers reset everything for her and tried it only to be shocked when it didn’t work for them. They worked a while longer and then were told by the programmer anything added today could not be used until tomorrow. They also showed Kathy how to reset it on her own if it were to happen to us while on the road.
After leaving there and feeling a little cooped up because of the weather we decided to walk around Walmart for a while. We got in some exercise and managed to pick a few food stocks in the grocery section to hold us over until the weekend when the weather is looking to be more to our liking.
It was after 5:30 by the time we sat down to enjoy some nice opened faced hot pork roast sandwiches for supper. That was from the roast Kathy cooked in the Crockpot yesterday.
With more dismal weather predicted for tomorrow we’ll be staying close to home thinking that Christmas is only 56 days away. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

Cool Shopping Day

Our Location today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

After getting to bed early this morning compared to late at night both Kathy and I were very surprised that we were both awake by 9:30. We both woke only once through the course of the night and woke feeling refreshed this morning.
For us every day we watch the Weather Channel while having our breakfast. Presently the big news maker is hurricane Sandy which is slowly making its way up the eastern coast of the U.S. with predictions that it will turn inland around the New York area. Meteorologist are saying there is presently a Low Pressure system over the Great Lakes area that will help draw Sandy inland and when they combine will create a super storm. Because of the size of it they have dubbed it the nick-name of  Frankenstorm. This will cause major wind damage and lots of localized flooding as it will be carrying a lot of moisture along with it. We can only hope that all our family and friends and RVers we know or follow will be safe from the effects of this storm.
Kathy and I headed over to the Devonshire Mall this afternoon. Kathy needed to look for a new lightweight winter coat as hers has seen better days. Sears had a wide variety of coats to choose from in an assortment of price ranges as well. Once that was finished we headed into the mall where Kathy also found a new purse as her older one is starting to show wear on the straps. We stopped around 2:00 to enjoy a late lunch at the food court where we shared a combo and spent more time people watching.
By the time we left the mall we were starting to get stiff from all the walking we did. Once we were home we enjoyed a great roast for supper that Kathy had cooking in the Crockpot. With the weather prediction for the next few days we’ll be staying close to home until Sandy blows herself out. On Friday we’ll be heading to the RV dealer for our warranty repairs and winterizing on the trailer.
Christmas is 57 days away. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

Fun Celebration.

Our Location today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

When we finally awoke this morning it appeared we were getting up in the middle of the night. Watching the weather channel the only thing they were talking about was the Frankenstorm Sandy that is predicted to turn inland by Monday and cause havoc through the eastern states and provinces as far as the Windsor Ontario area. We can only hope and pray for all our friends and RV’ers we know that they come away from this storm unscathed.
With the morning clouds appearing so thick this morning and the high winds that accompanied them it is hard to believe the spring like temperatures we were basking in this afternoon. The sun filled the sky with only whiffs of clouds slowly making their way to somewhere else.
Checking our $6.00 lottery ticket this morning left us with the reality that we are still one of a great number of people hoping to cash in on the next big ticket draw that comes along. Since nobody won the big prize last night they are predicting another 50 million dollar grand prize along with another 50 one million dollar individual prizes for next Friday.
Kathy continued doing more baking this morning for the Halloween Party we are attending this evening. Every year our son decorates his garage for a family&friends oriented party and everyone brings different foods to create a Pot Luck that even the children get to enjoy.
By this afternoon we were well caught up on everything that needed doing here today. I still seem to be dragging anchor today which surprised me as I seemed to feel better yesterday from the medical test I had on Thursday.

This coming Friday we’ll be taking our trailer over to our RV Dealers to have them finish all the warranty work on the trailer including the replacement of the outdoor kitchen refrigerator that Keystone finally authorized. I’ll also be having them do other services that I want done as well as winterizing it so we won’t have any unexpected surprises when we hit the road in January.

Better Day.

Our Location today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

Even with a restless night of sleep it is amazing what twenty-four hours can do in one’s life. From feeling only so-so to feeling like nothing happened. From feeling well fed on a glass of water to being hungry on a reasonably sized meal. (I’m going to have to work on that one.)
Right after breakfast we were back on the computers this morning checking our E-mail and reading the blogs we follow. I still had more to read while Kathy started doing her rendition of the Tazmanian Devil going through the apartment cleaning it from top to bottom in no time.
Last night after supper Jenna our hair stylist had called with the news that yesterday all the employees of the Fantastic Sam’s hair cutting shops were given their walking papers as the chain was declaring bankruptcy. In Canada that means the company is done never to come back unlike the U.S. where it allows the company time to seek protection from their creditors and time to get back on its feet.
The economy has not rebounded as much as many people believe it has and there are still companies closing their doors. So shortly after we were finished doing our lunch dishes we headed out to find the location of where our hairstylist was relocating to. In her words she had rented a chair in another shop just down the road from the location she had been working at.
Once we found where we needed to go the next time we need our hair cuts done we needed to go to the Bulk Food store to pick up some baking supplies and ended up with a few little treats as well.
Another quick stop was made to buy a lottery ticket for tonight’s lotto Max draw. Unlike the lotteries in the U.S our lotteries are tax free. Tonight’s draw is worth 50 Million Dollars with an additional 50 one million dollar prizes. Kathy and I are not big at buying tickets of this sort but even a modest win would help make things easier and maybe allow us more freedom to travel and you can’t win if you don’t have a ticket so now for $6.00 we have a chance.
Christmas is now only 59 days away which means we are a little over 10 weeks away from hitting the road on our next adventure. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

Test and Recovery Day

Our Location today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

Having to set the alarm this morning proved to be unnecessary. Lately when we have to be somewhere early in the day we seem to be awake up minutes before the alarm clock goes off. This still allowed Kathy time to have breakfast while I got ready for my medical test.
We managed to be there five minutes before the appointed time only to have to wait an additional forty-five minutes due to a delay. Once things got rolling I only remembered five minutes into the preparation when I was being hooked up to monitors. The next thing I knew someone was helping me walk to another room.
Kathy was all smiles when she greeted me in the waiting room where I’d last seen her almost two hours before. It seemed like she had me home within seconds as everything seemed to fly past the car.  After changing into more comfortable clothes I was treated to a light brunch before I lay down again only to lose another two hours of my day.
Once I was awake for the third time in the same day I found Kathy in the kitchen busy making cookies for a Halloween party that we’ll be attending this Saturday night at our son’s home in Amherstburg. Of course she needed my assistance in the taste testing department to be certain they were of the highest quality. LOL!
After sitting at the computer and reading for a bit I thought that I would spend at least a few minutes outside on what was being predicted to be our last day of our beautiful Indian summer weather. Unfortunately we have already put our shorts and sandals away so in my jeans and T-shirt I headed across the street to mail a letter. On my return I managed to speak with our neighbor Grant for a few minutes before stopping to collect our mail.
Kathy was finally finished baking for the day and it was getting close to supper time so I suggested that I would barbecue a couple of Johnsonville Brats. Since the weather will be cooling down who knows when we’ll do this again.
After watching the 6 o’clock News it was time to finish reading all the blogs we missed today and think of how Christmas is now only 60 days away. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

Liquid Diet Day.

Our Location today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

Even though it would have been better if I had slept in this morning I was unable. At 4:30 I woke up and even though I stayed in bed I was not able to fall back to sleep. Of course when I get out of bed in the morning within a few minutes Kathy wakes right up.
When we opened the curtains we noted we had gotten a fair amount of rainfall through the night. Since I am preparing for a medical test tomorrow I allowed Kathy to eat her breakfast alone. I was only allowed a liquid diet today until 9:00 tonight then only water. In the meantime my sugar level continues to drop causing me a headache that I can do nothing about. The strange part is I don't even feel hungry.
I only stepped out of the apartment to get something from the truck and get our mail at the front entrance. It seems Doctors take advantage of the fact that we are aging just to send us for tests even when we are feeling good.
Kathy continued working on her Recipe Card Holder while I worked on a number of files on the computer. She has gotten quite a lot of her recipes written to this newer format.

Down Day.

Our Location today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

Feeling well rested from a good night’s sleep is a good thing giving you more energy to face the day. Problem is that being on a soft food diet that has no dairy products in it for the day seems to drain you of the new found energy.
After breakfast was over and we had read the blogs we follow we still had time to go to the grocery store for extra supplies that are needed to make it through the end of the month.
Back home it was more computer work after lunch until supper. Again all the meals of today were being dictated for me by the upcoming medical test. Kathy was very considerate of not eating our normal foods in front of me as I try to do anytime that she is required to do any dieting or fasting.
Tonight we headed out to Amherstburg to visit with Kevin and Melissa. The change to Tuesday night instead of our normal Wednesday visit was necessary because by tomorrow night I won’t be in the mood for visiting because of the continued preparations for my Thursday’s test. I’ll be glad when this test is done because it is making my sugar level drop to the point of causing headaches. With another day of this I’m hoping my sugar doesn’t bottom out.
