Mental Overload.

Our Location today is Windsor, Ontario.

Even though it was still dark outside when I went to work this morning, the temperature was more than comfortable walking to the Truck, without wearing a sweater or jacket.

I had the chance to speak with Vic before the start of the shift about what we had learned yesterday from Bob the Kennametal Technician. Vic kept getting pulled away due to his title of Inspector, having to verify the Units were being finished to specifications. With less to worry about today, he intended to be in the class.

Bob didn’t show up until 7:30 this morning because he was still conferencing with other Technicians at Kennametal. Even though most of the issue with the PTA applying too much Hard Surfacing Material had been looked at yesterday, it seems impossible to fine tune at this time.

Today he started calibrating the Electrical Output of the Welding Machines needed to run the Plasma Transfer Arc. When that had been finished we again used the Scrap Feedscrew from yesterday for testing. The results were even smoother welds, but we had another Wandering Torch incident. Together we found that when running a single bead on the PTA there was one box on the Spreadsheet that could not be blank.

I spoke with Kathy at lunch and learned she had just returned from looking for the Hyaluronic Acid Capsules for me. The local GNC outlet that carried them had recently closed up so she was searching for another supplier. Years ago taking Glucosamine took care of my Arthritic Problem, but recently does not help like it used to. If the Acid Capsules work I will discontinue the Glucosamine.

After lunch Bob started showing us different Electrical Components inside the Panel and explaining their purposes. It was not to make Electricians out of us, but if PTA stopped working, a quick glance of these Components could show us where the problem could be. A lot more notes were taken as we picked his brain before the end of the shift. He has a Cardiologist Appointment tomorrow so he’ll be back in Indiana.

Even with limited physical activity we were on Mental Overload with all this information, but we were all smiling as well, because the PTA will now follow the course we set for it, as there will be less repairs and touch-ups on the Hard-Surfaces.

It was Raining when I left the Plant so I gave Vic a ride to the Bus Stop where he could stay dry. As I headed for the Bank, traffic came to a standstill when we had Two Police Units go past us one way, then Three Fire Trucks heading in the opposite direction. I even took a shower coming in from the Truck.

I barely had my shoes off in the Apartment, when I had a Snap due to the Mental Overload.

Even though it wasn’t Planned, it is looking like we’ll have a busy Thanksgiving Weekend.

Krackers

You know you’re getting old when the smile by your bedside is your teeth in a jar.

  1. In my opinion your boss, Mile, should have arranged for this factory technician to give you a lesson on this Plasma Transfer Arc when you started working there. It would have made your job so much easier instead of figuring everything out yourself.
