House To Ourselves, Plants Replaced and Stopping At The Blooming Gardener.

Our Location today is at Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

Last night we both seemed to have problems sleeping but Kathy got even less sleep then I did. Kathy was having trouble breathing due to Allergies and everything she was exposed to when we were out at the Park and only got around Three Hours of sleep. It just seemed that I was sleeping soundly until 4:30 then I remember watching the clock slowly count its way past 5:30.

Waking up at 9:00 I simply went about checking the Weather, News, E-mails and Blogs until around 10:00 when I turned the lights on. With it being a Saturday morning, it seemed eerily quiet upstairs. We didn’t want to waste too much of the morning because we wanted to go back out to our site at Wildwood Golf and RV Park to replace the Plants we lost over the winter. After getting dressed when we went upstairs we found out that besides Sanford we were the only ones at home.
Replaced Two of these Golden Cedar Trees today.
After gathering up Water, Apples and a couple of Cheese Sticks for snacks, then loading the Golden Cedars back in the Truck we were soon on our way.

Our first stop was Home Depot where we were able to pick up some Hostas to replace the ones in our Middle Garden. After putting them in the Truck we went back to the in-house Subway outlet where we got a Turkey and Beef Sandwich for our lunch.

As soon as we arrived at our Site Kathy had to start sweeping the large amount of Seeds that were covering our Patio. With the 70 MPH Wind Gusts that our area received yesterday the trees looked like they were bare and most of the seeds were on our Patio. We replaced the Decorative Edging Bricks that we had removed to make the painting easier.
You see the newly planted Hostas ahead of the Trees.
Since we hadn’t eaten breakfast we set up our Bistro Table and Chairs and enjoyed our Sandwich for lunch. We also had the chance to note an increase in Traffic driving in the Park, most of which we recognized as other Seasonal RVers.

The hardest part about replacing the Trees that had died was placing the Decorative Marble Stone on a Plastic Tarp. After the Ground Cloth was lifted it only took a few slices around the Tree with the Shovel and they came right out. It seemed like I was done in a flash but it was actually the Time that was flying by.

While taking a short break to enjoy our apples we had a visit from Val one of the Park Owners. She complimented us on all the work we put into our Site and wished us luck on getting our Trailer back soon.
This our Front Flower Bed where the Rabbits ate our Burning Bush.
Kathy marked where she wanted the Hostas we had picked up this morning, planted in the Middle Garden. When I scraped back the thick layer of Mulch there were the sprouts from the Hostas that she thought the Rabbits had eaten just about to break through the surface. Since we couldn’t return the Hostas we bought this morning we added them to the Garden anyways.

After washing off the dirt that had spilled onto the Patio we loaded the Cedar Trees in the back of the Truck and dropped them off at the Compost Bin before heading out.

We stopped at the Blooming Gardener to see if that had gotten any Citronella Plants in yet and they had. If you live in an area with a lot of Mosquitos these plants are a must. With our old Hanging Basket only lasting One Season we looked for something better and found one that we only have to replace the Liner and Plants next spring.

You can see the Dead Trees in the Driveway.
We stopped at the Michigan Diner on Manning Road where we had supper. Back at Karen’s we found only Sanford home and he was delighted to see us. With the rest of the family away we took advantage of the nice Warm Showers that helped ease our Aches and Pains.

Not sure what we’ll be up to tomorrow. Thanks for following along, feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

  1. In the fall, we cut the leaves off the Hostas, if not it can be done in the spring. New shoots will appear. Hostas will multiply and you can separate them and plant elsewhere.
