Time Is Ticking and Still Running Errands.

Our Location today is McGregor, Ontario, Canada. 

In yesterday’s blog it was mentioned that we were both so worn out from the heat that an afternoon Snap (short nap) was required. Even though we woke feeling revitalized at the time we really hadn’t done ourselves any favours. While in the process of writing the blog we had our Sleepy Time Tea which helped us to fall asleep but because of the Snap we later had a restless night. Kathy was still organizing the new trailer while just I woke up around 5:00 and finally got out of bed by 6:30. By the time Kathy did wake up I’d finished my morning reading, got dressed went outside, moved the truck forward, installed the tow-brush on the back of the truck, moved things from under the trailer and finally went back inside to start making breakfast all by 8:00. The sky was overcast and by that time the Humidex was already at 100 F (38 C) and climbing.

As we had breakfast we discussed not sleeping and theorized the cause. I had planned on removing our Stain Glass window mural “Trails End” but didn’t have any fresh sealant around to put the original window back in. When it started raining while we were eating that seemed to be the perfect time to go out to get our supplies. When we went to the RV dealer and they informed us they got the seal material at Lowes and Home Depot in Windsor so that change our plans. 

There were a couple of heavy downpours as we headed towards Windsor but it eventually evened out to a steady rain. When we arrived at Lowes we inquired where the double sided window sealant was and they sent us to the far side of the store where the windows were. There wasn’t anything like that there but the associate brought us two aisles further. Those were for garage doors not windows so he then sent us back to almost where we started in the paint department. When we didn’t find it there so we left the store. 

Since Kathy has already been redesigning the new trailer she thought we could use a serving tray to convert the ottoman into a coffee table. We went to Home Outfitters, Zehrs Super Store and Home Sense and the best they could do were small colourful plastic trays which was not what she was looking for. After stopping at DollarRama for some nonskid shelf liner material we saw the Winners store across the parking lot. Having dealt with them when we owned our home we stopped in just in case. By the time I’d parked the car and found my way to the Home Décor section Kathy was holding exactly the tray she had been looking for at a very reasonable price. 

Driving to Home Depot we went through the same wild goose chase we did at Lowes. Finally, we had no choice but to settle for a single sided adhesive seal. It will do the job but it only adheres on one side. 

Since it was still raining and we were hot, tired and hungry we stopped at Burger King to satisfy our appetites and overindulge our need to rehydrate ourselves on more than just water. 

By the time we got Home the rain had stopped so as soon as I’d changed my clothes I went back outside. Kathy would continue packing supplies from our storage closet as well as completely scrubbing down the rear bathroom. 

Due to the fact we are keeping our four AGM Batteries for the new trailer Kathy thought it would be wise to remove the battery racks that I had also constructed and installed. I had forgotten how well I had fastened those racks in and how the bolts that were not supposed to spin did. It would take me more than two hours just to unbolt those two racks often times working the tools with only my fingertips. 

I’d forgotten to get a solenoid and Kathy was still busy so I headed off to Canadian Tire in Amherstburg by myself. The sky was really getting dark and by the time I arrived at the store there was a light drizzle. It took about ten minutes to get to the cashiers with my purchase but one look outside told me I’d be waiting a while to leave. The car was parked less than fifty feet from the building and I couldn’t see it. Five minutes later when the rain slowed down a bit I made a dash for the car.  

Some of the roads inside the park had standing water and Kathy reported that the power had gone out momentarily. After supper when I finished cleaning out the forward basement cabinet I remembered to check our rain gauge. Just from the last shower we’d gotten a half inch of rain. Even after that rain our afternoon Humidex was still holding at 104 F (40 C) so I was more than willing to call it a night by 7:30. 

We have to finish all our chores and pack away as much as we can tomorrow because we are planning an early start to our day on Monday. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!
