Recovery and More Info On Truck Licensing.

Our Location today is McGregor, Ontario, Canada.

As I mentioned in last night’s post “There’s no place like home.” By the time we had everything set up the way we had before leaving for our night of Dog-Sitting it was midnight by the time we got to bed. Not hearing any train horns, emergency sirens or doggy nails tapping on a hardwood floor it was nearly 9:00 by the time we woke up this morning from a very sound sleep.
Playing Football with Sanford yesterday.
Once we’d finished breakfast and our morning reading there were only a few things that still needed doing outside. Once those were done my get-up-and-go seemed to have got-up-and-went. There was no reason for that other than still feeling tired after a good night’s sleep.
Back inside Kathy was busy cleaning Strawberries that we bought at the store yesterday so she had me clean myself up so I could clean and cut a lovely Pineapple that we’d also gotten. Within little time at all our counter top went from crowded and cluttered to clean and shiny. That also meant our refrigerator was very full.
This afternoon the Humidex was only at 95 F (35 C) which would have been tolerable if there had been any kind of a breeze but everything was very still. The only alternative was to accomplish things inside. Around 2:00 I began to work on completing the data entries of the latest file I’d been working on while Kathy played catchup on some of her E-mail. One such was the monthly Wildwood Golf and RV Park Newsletter that she likes to print out. In doing so she saw an upcoming steak barbecue but as she read more saw that the tickets had been on sale until 1:00 this afternoon. Luckily there was a phone number attached and there were still tickets available so I was soon on my way to a site on sixth street.
The person selling the tickets was Dan who is on the Park Entertainment Committee that is made up of seasonal people in the park. After purchasing the tickets for this dinner we started talking about the licensing issue we are having with the truck. Since I didn’t know his last name but recognized Dan as the retired MT officer that had told us we should have the truck listed as a non-commercial vehicle. I explained the nightmare that Kathy and I went through trying to get that status afterwards and what we’d been told at the different local Service Ontario (license bureau) Offices. I told him about being screamed at on the phone.

Dan explained these outlets were independently owned and the people there are contract employees. They all have a script they have to learn and the more we pay for our license the more money they get, similar to profit sharing. He told me to go to the Ministry of Transport Enforcement Office and they will issue me a letter that cannot be ignored by Service Ontario personal.

If we can make that happen it could save us hundreds of dollars a year in licensing alone. It will also reduce our insurance premium and the need for Annual Safety Inspections. We’ll be in Windsor on Thursday so we have plans to stop at the Ministry of Transport Enforcement Office.
For supper Kathy recreated some leftovers and came out with a delicious Chicken Linguini dish and we sampled those fresh Strawberries she worked on this morning. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

  1. I'll bet there are a lot of people that have overpaid for their license.
