A Hot Day in the Keys.

Our Location today is Sugar Loaf Key, Florida, USA.

After spending most of the day running around Key West and then having an enjoyable Happy Hour visit with Karen and Al yesterday it was no wonder that we weren’t awake long after going to bed. Either I was totally exhausted from the last couple of nights listening to the out-of-sync roosters but something was definitely right last night because I didn’t hear one rooster crowing until after I was sitting at the computer this morning. Maybe they tired themselves out and had to take time off.
On Monday while setting up the storage shed and getting the bicycles ready to ride I also set up my dumbbells and barbell. Considering that it has been over a month since I was able to use them I was really starting to feel the effects of not exercising. I like to start a workout with a good cardio exercise first to get the blood pumping so after having breakfast this morning with Kathy’s blessings I started riding my bicycle around the park.
With all the movements of RVs leaving and coming in I thought it might be safer riding the path along the highway so out of the park I went. The east wind blowing in my face was refreshing and the distance of the path inviting. When the path crossed the road I thought I’d take a few more minutes to check it out. The path disappeared behind a row of trees that kept the path shaded and out of sight to the passing vehicles less than twenty feet away on the highway. After riding past other cyclists that had stopped to take photographs I started getting a little thirsty so when I stopped for a drink the opening in the trees showed I was across the highway from the Square Grouper Bar and Grill. Since I hadn’t told Kathy I was going this far I thought it wise to start heading back. I’d been gone for less than forty-five minutes and travelled over six miles. After a brief conversation with a neighbor who thought it was better to park his truck in front of our trailer instead of his own I spent another hour weight lifting and did it ever feel good.
While we were having lunch it dawn on me that since we have the park’s unlimited WiFi to use that I should do updates on all our computers. Not wanting to reset the computers to automatically update until we get back home I chose to manually activate the programs we needed. Like I just said their WiFi may be unlimited but with a campground full of people going online it can be very slow sometimes especially if you’re uploading pictures to a blog.
Kathy said it was too hot for her to be outside this morning so she chose to do some reading until her computer was ready to use then she filled in our spreadsheet. Later I would go online to find out that even though the temperature was 82 F (28 C) in the shade as early as 9:00 this morning the temperature in the sunlight felt like 99 F (37 C).
We’re not sure what we’ll be up to tomorrow but whatever it is it should be fun. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

It’s about time.

  2. The Square Grouper is our favorite restaurant in all of the Keys! The have some amazing food. In fact, Al and I wondered if you'd like to meet us there on Friday for lunch?

Yeah, it's hot, but I tried to sit outside and read about 3pm and nearly froze to death from the strong sea breeze. Yea...I'm a Floridian...but it felt chilly.

  3. It's been a long time since we've been to Key West. We hope to make it there later this year.
