Our Location today is Sugar Loaf Key, Florida, USA.
Even though we were in bed by our usual time last night we
both tossed and turned just enough that we slept in this morning. Of course I was
still up an hour before Kathy but by the time we had coffee and a small bowl of
cereal for breakfast the rest of the day was behind schedule. The schedule we
had was to take it easy and relax and since we are still here in the Florida
Keys that is something that was very easy to do.
I made a few calls back home to touch base with some of our
friends and family that we hadn’t spoken to since before we headed south in
December. After striking out on the first two I managed to talk to Kathie and
Ross. He’d recently received a new Pace Maker after his old one actually caused
him to have a heart attack. He says he’s feeling better than he has for years.
I then spoke to Neil who started his apprenticeship the year
after I did in the same trade. He was telling me about all that white stuff
that is still piled in his yard even though lots of it has already melted away.
He and his wife Donna are leaving for a one week Caribbean Cruise tomorrow and
departing Ft. Lauderdale on Sunday.
Next I spoke with my sister Anna from London, Ontario where the Snow is really piled up this year. She’ll be driving her grandson back home to Belle River this weekend and stopping to visit some relatives who live nearby in Windsor.
Finally I got a chance to speak to my Aunt Anna also in London Ontario. We saw her and Bob days before we headed south at our apartment in Tecumseh. When I first started talking to her she thought that Kathy and I were already home and was a little shocked when I told her I was calling from the Florida Keys. She managed to catch a bad cold or something that’s been keeping her down for the last month.
An RVer who did a fantastic Johnny Cash song. |
For supper I grilled a couple of sirloin steaks on the Weber
that were smaller than the Hamburgers we’d had last night but we weren’t
stuffed which was a good feeling. Kathy had made Macaroni salad earlier then
added Brussel Sprouts to top off our meal. She made a Hawaiian salad for
dessert with marshmallows, oranges, pineapple, coconut, red cherries and sour
cream. It was a very nice meal.
Since this is Friday evening the park was again having
entertainment at the Pub. This is something we don’t normally do when we’re
home but being down in the Keys just makes you want to listen to the music and
sing along. Tonight’s entertainer was Captain Josh. Thankfully he wasn’t
playing hard rock like the band on Wednesday but a mixture of country, folk,
comical and Keys type music. There was even a woman named Carmen that will be
celebrating her 96th birthday tomorrow up on the dance floor
strutting her stuff to his songs. Kathy and I enjoyed ourselves so much the
next thing we knew he was finishing his last song of the night.
When we were on our way back to the trailer we had to walk
around the one block of trailers because all the empty sites had been filled
while we were having a fun night. Thanks for following along and feel free to
leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!
It’s about time.

My
wife was at the beauty shop the other day for two hours,
and
that was only for the estimate.
