Hunkered Down Accomplishing Things.

Our Location today is Moore Haven, Florida, U.S.A.

After spending the night with the cube heater running the temperature outside the blankets this morning had us reconsidering our need to get up. Turning on the local weather station confirmed that the outside temperature was in the low 40’s and was only going to be getting into the middle 50’s for the day.

Once we’d finished with breakfast we headed to the computers to see how the rest of the world was coping with the weather they were experiencing. Kathy received an E-mail from our daughter Karen telling her how Tyler’s hockey team had easily defeated the opposing team on Tuesday night. She also mentioned that the wind-chill made it impossible to be outside for more than a few minutes today.

After getting dressed and making the bed I returned to the computer where I phoned the nearby Camping World. Tomorrow we’ll be making a trip to Ft. Myers to run a number of errands. The shopping list we have for the trailer at Camping World was quite extensive which would take hours of finding everything. Having researched the parts and their catalogue numbers I simply gave the numbers to the clerk on the phone and he’ll gather the order and have it waiting for me for tomorrow morning. We know that we could have ordered it online and had it shipped but that could take a while so we thought this was better. I did however manage to order online our new tandem bicycle from Green Zone Folding Bikes and am happy to say it should be here by the end of next week.

By lunchtime we were finally able to shut the heat off as the sun started showing through the clouds and adding some warmth to the air. The wind however kept shaking the trailer and if you opened the door to actually feel the temperature anything loose inside got blown around.

We had been invited to visit with Elaine and Rick at their trailer at 4:00 along with Debbie and Dave who live about fifty miles from Elaine and Rick’s home in New Brunswick. The women got together talking of travels and places we’ve been. The guys were busy talking shop of things we have and plan to do to our rigs to improve them. When I told Rick that I was picking up a set of stabilizers tomorrow he said he’ll wait and see how well they work for us because he has been considering them for their trailer.

It was dark by the time we got back to the trailer so the quickest way to make supper was to grill some hotdogs and Zucchini on the Weber Q. The end taste is unbeatable and there were no pots or pans that were dirtied in the making of this meal.

It’s hard to believe that two weeks ago this evening we had just set out on this trip south after having celebrated Christmas with our family. It may not be as cold as that night but this is Florida. Where’s the heat?

Tomorrow we’ll be on the road as soon as we’re finished eating breakfast and since we’re not setting an alarm who knows when that’ll be. I’m fairly certain we’ll be having a meal or two out. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

It’s about time.
