Trailer’s Ready And A Last Barbecue.

Kathy was surprised that I had once again finished reading the blogs we follow by the time she woke up this morning. As we sat having our breakfast and watching the Weather Channel they indicated that this would be the last clear weather day in our area. That meant we’d have to work on getting the trailer ready for our travels today. 

Since the temperature was not going to be fall-like until this afternoon we packed the last of our clothes that we’ll be taking with us when we leave in 10 days. Once that was completed we returned to the kitchen where we had a lot of vegetables to cook before they spoiled. Kathy started gathering the ingredients while I manned the cutting board and started chopping everything up and putting it all into our soup pot. By the time we had everything simmering nicely on the stove it was time to warm up our leftover Chinese food from last night’s supper for lunch. 

Since we only had the one laundry basket of clothes between the two of us to load we were on our way to the hardware store shortly after noon hour. I need to repair a cable connection in the trailer and all the connectors I have just won’t work. I ended up walking out with only a suggestion on how to make the repair while Kathy walked out with a roll of Christmas wrapping paper for next Christmas which is only 375 days away. 

Arriving at the storage yard the first thing we did was to open the trailer so that we could open all the faucets in the trailer. After putting the clothes basket inside for Kathy to put away I crawled under the trailer to open all the low point drains. The reason for doing that is to drain as much of the RV-antifreeze out as possible. Because we won’t be filling our water system until we are much further south the plumbing will be safe from cold temperature damage. The less Antifreeze left in the lines will mean we can take showers after it is activated without the dreadful taste that sometimes seeps in your mouth while taking a shower. 

While Kathy put the clothes away I also pulled most of the storage containers from the basement so that I could put things that had been left behind where they belonged. That also gave me the chance to add some personal exercise equipment into the basement. 

Back at the apartment Kathy had to go online to check a few of our accounts as she often does to be certain nobody else was using them. I went back outside to see why some of the mudflap lamps were once again not working. It seems the sealer I used earlier this fall was too old and did not keep the water from getting in. I’ll have to redo the mudflaps when we’re in Florida. After cleaning up the back seat in the truck I put the new wiper blades on before closing up outside. 

For supper I fired up the Weber Q for the last time at the apartment this year to grill some nice pork kabobs to go with the wonderful Alfredo pasta dish that Kathy made. 

Tomorrow we have some errands amongst other things to do all in preparation of our Snowbirding departure. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!
