Getting Closer and Bad News.

Our Location today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

I’m sure that you’re probably getting tired of hearing how I’m getting up early in an effort to change my sleeping habits. The reason is that the last couple of years we have spent hours crossing the international border into the U.S.A. because we left in the early morning. After Kathy and I discussed that we decided that we’ll try leaving at night this year and simply drive to the first or second Flying J before stopping for the night. Since we’ll also be getting up early in the morning on the day of our departure I need to become used to longer hours awake for that day.

This morning I simply woke from an undisturbed sleep shortly after 5:00 and felt totally refreshed. I missed my exercise routine yesterday so I suited up, closed the doors and started working out for the next two hours. I even had a chance to shower before hearing Kathy starting to stir in the bedroom.

We had a lighter than normal breakfast while we watched the Weather Channel give us their forecast of the weather for the next few days as well as this winter. Even though we’ll be heading to Florida in 8 more days chances are great that the cold temperatures will follow us south.

We spent time at the computers before heading out at 10:30 to go get our last haircuts before we leave. We always have such a hard time getting decent haircuts in Florida. Our hairstylist Jenna offered to hide in the back of our trailer so that we wouldn’t have that problem LOL.

Stopping at Shoppers Drug Mart on the way home we found out that they still had not resolved the problem with the prescription for Antibiotics for Kathy yet. The Pharmacist on duty today immediately called the Doctor’s office to discuss the problem personally. By the time he got it cleared he said it would be another half hour before it would be ready so I said that I’d return when they called our apartment. We stopped at Metro grocery store to gather a few food stocks that will help us float closer to our departure.

While Kathy was getting lunch ready I went downstairs to collect our mail and to talk to Dan the manager. I gave him a small plastic basket with our name and the key to our mailbox. While we are gone he will pick up our mail for us at no charge.

After lunch the Drug Store called saying the prescription was ready so I went to get it. When I returned Kathy was on the phone talking to Vera who informed her that Bill’s brother Alex had passed shortly after midnight this morning. It was only a short time ago that he had been diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer.

After hanging up we talked for a while before Kathy had me pull the fridge and stove forward so she could clean behind them. She likes to do this a few times each year in an attempt to keep the dust problem down.

I dismantled the Weber Q from its stand and cleaned it up before bring it down to the truck. It will be travelling with us as there is no better way to grill any meal than on the Weber.

We have more to do to get ready tomorrow so we’ll let you know how that goes. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

It’s about time.
