Early Birthday Gift and Wonderful Barbecue.

Our Location today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

Just when you think there is no way that you’ll have trouble sleeping that is when you do. The only difference from the other night was that I immediately took an extra strength Tylenol that helped me to get back to sleep where I stayed well past 9:00 this morning. I felt like a drunken sailor when I got up. It was quite the chore to read things on the computer because I was still having trouble focusing. 

Special delivery. Early Birthday gift.

Kathy was thinking of doing a quick trip to Walmart this afternoon but since we had a late breakfast I talked her into going shortly after 11:00. Because today is the Labor Day Holiday the store was packed so the ten minute errand turned into an hour ordeal.

Finally back at the apartment we enjoyed meatloaf sandwiches from the meatloaf Kathy made yesterday. After a quick adjustment to the sauce it tasted the way it should have yesterday. The best part is that there are more sandwiches in the future.

Minutes before 2:00 we arrived at our daughter Karen’s home to make a special delivery. Our grandson Tyler’s birthday is October 2^nd and he starts school tomorrow. He had asked his parents if they could buy him a desk for his room so he wouldn’t have to do his homework at the dining room table. They couldn’t buy it for him because they knew that Kathy and I had already gotten it for him. So today we gave him his early birthday gift. He recognized the box he had seen wrapped at our apartment the other night but not seeing any cards or labels on it he didn’t know for sure. He loved his gift.

Tyler and I spent the next half hour putting it together which helped to give him a bit more of a sense of appreciation for it as well as getting some mechanical experience in as well. We added self-adhesive felt pads on the back edges to protect the walls and on the legs to protect the hardwood floor. Since he has limited space in his room we got a corner desk for him. We had no sooner finished putting it together and he was gathering his laptop and desktop accessories and putting them where they belonged.

Kathy and I had also been invited to stay for supper tonight. Karen and Greg had also invited their friends Sandy and Kevin and their kids over for the last barbecue of summer. Greg was grilling two kinds of Kabobs on the charcoal grill plus steak that he was grilling on the larger propane barbecue. Karen had made a bunch of vegetable side dishes to go with the meat. Everything was delicious and made to perfection.

This turned into a feast.

After supper while we were sitting talking their friend Joe the fireman stopped in to visit for a while. Everyone was having fun and enjoying the company until we started hearing sounds of thunder off in the distance. That was like a cue for everyone to start heading for home.

We couldn’t have been home for more than five minutes when the rain started coming down in sheets. Hopefully the forecasted overnight rains will end before the kids return to school in the morning. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!
