Thankful Day.

Our Location today is Tecumseh, Ontario.

After a day of nice warm summer weather both Kathy and I slept well last night as a fact Kathy needed to rouse me this morning as I slept past 9:00. After a simple breakfast of coffee and toast we were out the door before 10:00 and headed to Hotel Dieu Hospital. No it wasn’t an emergency but within fifteen minutes I was dropping Kathy off. Our son Kevin was having Gallbladder surgery today and Kathy and I were going to keep Melissa company in the waiting room adding moral support as well as silent prayers.

Unfortunately with the prediction of rain for our area for later this afternoon I had to go work on the trailer. Last Friday when we were being squeezed into our site at the Holiday Beach RV Park in New Hamburg we managed to get a tear in the edge of our rubber roof because of the overgrown trees that lined the lane in the campground. Keeping patch material on hand is something all RVers should do and even though it was mid-morning the Humidex was already over the century mark. The job itself only took a few minutes to clean the roof and apply the patch before I was on my way back to the hospital but I managed to go through a bottle of water in that short a period of time.

It was noon by the time I parked the truck and met Kathy in the hospital lobby. I was also surprised to see Matthew there also keeping a vigil for his dad’s well being. Once we got back to the day surgery area we learned that Kevin was in recovery and that all had gone well so Kathy and I suggested we all go to lunch while waiting for a chance to be able to see Kevin.

We had an enjoyable lunch but still had another three hours to wait before we were actually able to see him and then we still had to wait another two hours before he was released to go home. It is totally amazing that today a person can have Gallbladder surgery and go home the same day with very little scarring. I recall as a child that my mother had spent an entire week in the hospital for the same surgery. Medical Science has truly come a long way.

After seeing Melissa driving away headed for home Kathy and I thought that sounded like a great idea to head for home; but first we stopped at Wendy’s and each had a Baja salad for supper and as of this writing it still hasn’t rained. Tomorrow we’ll be keeping so busy we might not have enough time for ourselves.

Kevin will definitely remember his surgery date as it happened to be his Birthday. Happy Birthday Kevin. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!
