Our Location today is Dome Rock Road BLM,
Quartzsite, U.S.A.
While I was in the process
of uploading the pictures to our Blog
last night Kathy was busy checking what animal the Footprint we found yesterday could have been from. I suspected it
to be a large cat but since there are so many Coyotes in the area that was what she first checked out. When that
didn’t come close she looked up Cougars
and immediately had a match. It was weird when we found that print because it
was the only one around in a very small patch of mud and the mud was not dry.
Next time we’ll be a little more aware of our surroundings.
The Footprint we found on ur hike yesterday. |
We finally got it right
when we both slept fairly solid last night. It was a tad warmer then yesterday when
we got up by 8:00 MST it was all the
way up to 54 F (12 C) but we expected more warmth throughout our day. After having had
our breakfast we took the time to see what the rest of the world was up to at
the Computers and used that time to
enjoy our Coffee/Tea all while the Sun burned off the morning clouds and
started adding power to our Batteries.
That little cloud reminded me of a Hummingbird. |
By 10:00 this morning Kathy
got things ready for me to start grilling the Bacon on our Weber as well
as taking a beautiful Pork Roast out
of the Freezer that would also be
taking a trip outside. With hardly a flicker of a breeze this morning I managed
to get Three Pounds of Bacon grilled
on a Grill Mat exactly the way Kathy
wants them in just over an hour.
Three pounds of Bacon off the Weber Q. |
In the meantime Kathy had
been busy recreating Leftovers we
had in the Fridge into Mouth-Watering Dishes that I can barely
wait to taste. When I brought in the Grilled
Bacon and Grill Mat that I had
used her focus changed to repackaging it for the Freezer where she can take whatever she needs and simply warms it
up before serving it.
Since we carry more than
one Grill Mat I set the smaller one
on the grill to get it preheated and to started adjusting the heat down. Once
the Pork Roast was under the cover
sizzling away I was about to start packing our outdoor chairs away when Kathy called
me to lunch.
Our lunch. |
Since we are trying to cut
back on our intake a bit she served a Chicken
& Turkey with Provolone Cheese
on a Toasted English Muffin. It was
more than satisfying and we found we didn’t need anything else to eat.
When we headed south back
in November we had to call Jayco about
our large slide binding. Since we were in the Goshen area they recommended we
take it to Indiana
RV in Middlebury to have it fixed.
They had it repaired by the time we got back from our lunch but we still had to
hang around over two hours until they got Jayco to authorized the repair. Less than a
week passed and we started having another issue, maybe it is the same, with the
same slide. There are four small Drive Motors
that bring in the slide and the Controller
that was replaced at Indiana RV is
supposed to make them keep the slide in line. Instead we are getting such a High-Pitched Squeal the sound can be
heard for quite a distance. Makes us feel embarrassed to admit that is our
trailer.
Not being quite sure how we
should deal with it I called Leisure Trailer back
in Lakeshore,
Ontario where we bought it.
Talking to Stephanie in Service and
telling her our delima she got the information of where we are, where we are
heading and our phone number to contact us. Within minutes she called back to
say we had an appointment next Monday at Quartzsite RV in
Mesa Arizona.
We both had a laugh about the name and our present location.
Back outside I closed up
the Generator and repacked the back
of the truck. Checking the Propane Tanks
on the trailer to see how full they were I found one to be Empty while the other was quite
full. I switched out the empty with our spare tank.
Checking the Pork Roast after only an hour the
internal temperature was barely 120 F
so I flipped it over and closed the lid for another half hour. I continued
getting things packed away until the only thing left to do was check the Roast again. Within seconds the
internal temperature hit 180 F so it
was time to shut things down. While I was changing, my clothes Kathy covered
the Roast but left it to rest on the
kitchen countertop.
Leaving our site headed to Dome Rock Road. |
When you drive up Dome Rock Road towards Quartzsite after the Stop Sign it
becomes Tyson
Wells Road. We made our last stop at K & B Tools for this winter season as well as picking up a
case of V8 Juice over at the food
tent.
The next stop was at Family Dollar where Kathy went inside with her shopping list
while I busied myself filling our Water
Jugs with the Reversed Osmoses Water
outside.
Because Kathy had been
going through the refrigerator this morning she needed to pick up a few things at
Road Runner
Grocery Store.
Our last stop was at RV Pit Stop to fill our empty Propane Tank and to top off the one for our Weber Q. Here in the U.S. when topping up a Propane Tank you only pay for what you get. In Ontario, whatever size your tank
is they charge you as if it were empty.
Back Home after everything had been
unloaded Kathy busied herself making supper while I did some overdue cleaning
on the Weber. When Kathy called me
for supper she had Sautéed some Asparagus and cooked a bed of Egg Noodles lightly drizzled with Pork Gravy with slices of Pork Roast on top. It all tasted
delicious and you could taste the Smoky
Flavour from grilling the Pork Roast
on the Weber.
While Kathy was cleaning
the kitchen and the dishes I finished packing the Basement before starting to lower the Solar Panels. While I was on the roof I could hear what sounded
like an Ultralight nearby. Suddenly not
more then three hundred feet away a Parachute
flipped up as the sound increased and there was a Paraglider flying above
the BLM. I called Kathy out and she got a few pictures. That Paraglider repeatedly flew over the
BLM as well as over the mountains north of I-10 and
the Dome
Rock Mountain Range. He finally landed back at his site as the last Sun’s Light peaked over the distant
horizon. Can't tell we love the mountains. |
Even though we could have
stayed here at Dome
Rock BLM for fourteen days and we love the peacefulness being surrounded by the mountains brings but we are
moving on Tomorrow. Thanks for
following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!
It’s about time.
Krackers
Ask a silly question
Can you be a closet claustrophobic?
Good information to know about the propane tank filling in Ontario. We are hoping to make a trip that way, either this fall, or next. Now we know to leave Michigan with our propane tank full.
