Bad Surprise and Another Accomplishment.

Our Location today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

Just like yesterday we had early plans but we managed to sleep in past 8:00 this morning. Of course that put us into a scramble mode only giving us time for breakfast getting dressed and getting out the door.

We were on our way shortly after 9:00 and our first stop was to drop the truck off for brake service. Luckily Jim had gotten tied up on another truck he was working on so my late arrival wasn’t as critical. Jim noted he’d probably have it finished possibly tomorrow.

Our next stop was the Credit Union to do some banking before heading out to Amherstburg. The first place we went to was the Subway shop where we shared a 12” BLT sub for an early lunch. Even though it is technically the same sandwich we each can choose what we put on it.

It was nearly 11:30 when we arrived at our son Kevin’s home where I was planning on completing another project for our trailer. Kathy had brought a book to read while I played in the garage. Kevin had been working out there before and had a small fire going in his wood stove so it was nice and toasty inside compared to the outdoor temperatures.

I needed to adjust the metal cutting saw before I could use it because the stop plate was set for large materials and I was cutting 1” pipe and 4” flat bar. I used the saw outside so as not to spread the iron filings throughout the garage. By the time I got back inside I was nearly frozen from the cold breeze. It only took minutes to file the cut edges smooth and a few more minutes to layout and drill a number of holes needed for the project.

About that time Kevin came running into the garage and grabbed something from a shelf and quickly left without saying a word. The next thing I know Kathy is in the garage telling me Kevin had been fixing the wood trim in the back room and barely leaned against the wall and his hand went through the drywall. The next thing he knows is there are Wasps coming out of the wall into the room. Kathy helped him to kill some with a fly swatter while he ran to the garage for the spray to kill them with. Once there were no more Wasps coming from the hole he cut the nest out. They had eaten the insulation and drywall from that section of the wall and created a very large nest. Tomorrow he’ll reinsulate the wall and replace the drywall.
The white foam was used to kill the Wasps
After Kathy went back inside I started tacking the materials together making certain I had proper angles. Once everything was assembled it took less than 10 minutes to have the entire thing welded. To cool the metal down I set it outside on the sidewalk while I went to see the hole Kevin had in the back room of the house. I spent another fifteen minutes cleaning up the garage and putting things back in the car before Kathy and I went to McDonalds for supper.

We took our time eating and talked about Kevin’s problem with the Wasps. We left after being there for nearly an hour to go walking around Walmart. Because all our Christmas shopping is finished the only thing we were shopping for was ideas for gifts for next Christmas which is only 407 days away.

When the clock struck 6:00 we were back at Kevin and Melissa’s for our weekly Wednesday night visit. We had our usual enjoyable visit where everyone was exchanging information that was useful to everyone else. We’ll be keeping an eye on the weather for next Wednesday and how many leaves are still on their neighbor’s trees. That way I can clean out the eave troughs before everything freezes up inside of them.
Kathy covered Boots with a towel to keep him warm and he never moved.
We’ll be busy again tomorrow getting other things accomplished here in town. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

It’s about time.

  4. Thank goodness it wasn't hot outside or those Wasps would have been going crazy. What a scary situation!

I cover Bella just like Boots. She loves it too.
