Seeing The Local Damage In Person.

I started my night in my Recliner but finished in Bed. I just wish that I could get back to spending the entire night in Bed without the need to straighten my joints to rid myself of their Pain.

I had a surprise waiting for Kathy after waking her this morning. Instead of serving our Leftover Lunch from Thursday for lunch today, we had it for Brunch.

There was plenty of E-reading to get caught up on, E-Mails, Local News and Blogs. It is sad to see more of the RVer Bloggers we used to follow, have not only stopped writing, but have passed away or tragically been in Accidents.

Not wanting our Mail to pile up like last weekend, I decided to combine that with a special ride. Since late Thursday afternoon’s Tornadoes hit the Windsor, Essex County area, Kathy has been focused on her Computer, telling me about this reported sighting and that one as well. One occurred the year she was born, another the year we first started Fulltime RVing. She was so concerned about this latest one, saying it was around the corner, that I drove down Riverside Drive so she could see all the downed tree limbs. Then I turned on the Buckingham and stopped directly in front of the damaged home. A Plywood wall had already been erected, and a Grey Tarp replaced the missing roof.

We were not the only ones doing the same thing. Piles of tree branches lined both sides of the street. Carrying on past Wyandotte the same scene continued. We turned east on Raymond stopping at each intersection seeing more and more piles of Branches. Some Mature Trees were leaned against homes with their Roots pulled from the ground, while others were snapped from the trunk similar to twigs. I’ve seen scenes like this before when we travelled through the Southern States, but not here in Windsor.

Luckily, there was a decent amount of Mail today but one was quite interesting. It was from Canada Post, stating there was mail waiting for us, at the Post Office in Tecumseh. This is not the first time this has happened and there are Post Office locations much closer to our home. No use calling on a long weekend, but I will be interested what they give as an excuse for such Stupidity.

It was past 3:00 and Brunch was long gone so we stopped at Wendy’s to have Lupper. We had Coupons that truly helps reduce our cost. There were a number of Families enjoying, possibly a last meal of summer out, before School starts next week.

We enjoyed the ride to Tecumseh before taking Banwell Road to Riverside Drive East. It was a totally different world from what we had just seen shortly before. There was no Destruction, no Damage, just manicured lawns and gardens.

It was nearly 8:00 before we had a small dish of Frozen Chocolate Yogurt to offset our Lupper. We also watched a “Murder Mystery”. During the show, Kathy showed me a Tornado Warning, no Date, no Location, no Time. It looked like something that a beginner had created, but she believed it. A few minutes later she asked where our visitors had gone. It looks like we’ll be going for group sessions sooner then expected.
