Senior Shopping, Changed Plans and Really Tired.

As mention in our Blog last night my day was going to start early this morning and the only way to accomplish that was to use the dreaded Alarm. Wanting to be certain that I would actually sleep I even took a Melatonin tablet. I even got to bed by 11:00 last night feeling I’d have a perfect night’s sleep. I was awake by 2:00 in the morning only to toss and turn for the next couple of hours.

When the Alarm went off at 6:15 the last thing I wanted to do was get up but like before my retirement I simply got moving out of habit. The next time I looked at the time was when I pulled into the parking lot at the Zehr’s grocery store for the Seniors Shopping Hour.

One thing I didn’t do before heading out this morning was to check the temperature. I was the only one wearing my summer weight jacket and wishing I had my hoodie underneath. Everyone in line was wearing Masks and many of us had Gloves but when we got inside none of the employees were wearing any P.P.E.s. The reason for going on a Friday morning rather then Saturday is the shelves have not already been picked over.

Today’s Shopping List was quite extensive so it was only minutes before 8:00 that I was heading back to the car after having lightened our Bank Account considerably.

Kathy was in the process of making the bed when she looked out the window to see the Car down in the parking lot so she immediately opened the Apartment door for me. Within a minute we were working together to empty the Shopping Cart of groceries. She started the task of getting everything into the Freezer while I started getting things into the Cupboards.

With that finished we shared the Waffles and English Muffins that no longer fit in the Freezer for breakfast. It seems these early hours and rough nights are starting to wear on me. Kathy probably woke shortly after I left sensing my absence and even though she was tired seemed to have more energy then I did today.
The Camera always sees through the Flurries better then we do.
We spent the rest of the morning on the Computers while I struggled to stay awake. Looking out the Balcony Door around 11:00 we could hardly see the surrounding houses due to Flurries. These would occur on and off into the later part of the afternoon.

Working together while I made the Chicken Noodle Soup and Tea Kathy was busy making the dessert plate of Oranges, Apple Sauce Cups along with Date Squares.

After letting lunch settle we headed out with Plans. Remember that word. First we stopped at Guardian Storage to pick up our Mail.

Our next stop was Home Depot where we planned to get a few supplies but we could only access the Garden Center. If we wanted anything else we could order it On-Line then pick it up at an assigned time. We’ll go back when they reopen and we can walk in the store.

Next we went to Dollarama where we planned to get a few things but didn’t feel like waiting in the long line of Socially Distanced Customers also wanting to head inside. We drove to another Dollarama with the same results.

We were back at the Apartment by 2:30. Even after having a Coffee I still needed to close my eyes. Normally I can stay awake but not today. I was awake shortly after 3:00 and felt completely refreshed.
Kathy made Tacos for supper and that was all we ate.

Watching the 6 o’clock Local News they talked how many businesses especially Hardware Stores will be allowing customers in the stores next week. We guess we’ll head back next week. Thank you for following along and feel free to leave a comment.
Be Safe and Enjoy!

Words of Inspiration

October is one of the peculiarly dangerous months to speculate in stocks. The others are July, January, September, April, November, May, March, June, December, August, and February.

  1. Are you guys still experiencing shortages in Canada? I do not think I could get up so early plus it is still dark at that hour and I have poor night vision.

One good thing is that you are stocked up for another week. May you both enjoy a restful and deep sleep.

  2. It is always a good feeling after a big shopping spree. We are happy things are opening up, even Princess Auto is putting the virus behind them. It is time to let those of us who want to, to get out shopping again.

  3. I am glad the hardware stores and garden centers will be open. People will be more content to putter around home now that they can get what they need for their projects. We need paint desperately. Painting the bedrooms will keep us occupied long enough while the time flies.

  4. Yup ... so much for plans. It seems to be gearing up in your neighborhood while we are on the downside. In spite of my Advil PM, I'm still not sleeping well either. Hope you can catch up soon.

  5. I will so glad when this is over. We took our dog Biscuit to vets yesterday for his yearly shots and check up. How to wait in the car until they came and got us. But on way home I saw several restaurants with cars in parking lot. I found out Alabama allowed restaurants to open yesterday at 50% capacity. From the looks of it, we are not the only people missing a meal out.

  6. Meanwhile in Michigan some businesses are opening up including the auto plants and you can now golf with a cart and fish in a boat with a motor. You just need to stay at home until May 28th.
