Two Vehicles Down, Kathy’s Fit, More Shopping, Truck In A Ditch and Working on Records.

Even though we didn’t appreciate waking up to the Alarm this morning we knew that it was necessary especially after we had difficulty Publishing our Blog. By the time we went to bed we were both overly tired and we kept waking up most of the night. We were still tired when we had to get up but we figured the worst that could happen would be having a Snap later in the day.

With Kathy having a Physical today she had to Fast so there was no time for breakfast. What the big concern was being delayed by the Numerous School Buses out in the county. With everything we needed in hand we were out the door before 8:00 and that’s when everything went Down the Tubes.

With our Truck in the shop this was not a good time for the Car not to start. It ran perfectly all weekend but the day we needed it, it just wouldn’t start. My Jumper Cables were in the Truck so Kathy said call our son Kevin. Without any hesitation he was on his way.

That’s when we noticed something else, the Cold North Wind that was chilling us to the bone. Last week we were cooking outside but today felt like our day was going to turn White. We both needed jackets just to stop shaking.

Kevin arrived with everything we might need from the Jumper Cables to the Battery Charger with the Quick Start Mode. As soon as it was connected the Car started right up and with a Big Thanks we were all heading out.

We got lucky passing over a dozen School Buses heading the other way that would wait until we passed them before turning on their Flashing Lights and we had every Traffic Light green. We arrived at Kathy’s Doctor’s Office with Twenty-Minutes to Spare.

Kathy’s exam went well though her Doctor wants to adjust her Medication so we’ll be back in a couple of weeks after the Lab Results are back. We got her Ortho-Bone Medication and we were headed out for breakfast, or so we thought. If you guessed the Car would not start again you would be right.

At least we weren’t in a rush to be anywhere so we tried to called our CAA Roadside Assistance, who we had forgotten about earlier. If you recall our daughter Karen had loaded a Game on my Cell Phone to entertain Kathy, well it wouldn’t let me use the phone. Thank Goodness Kathy had her’s in her purse but we were told it could be as long as an Hour away. It only took Thirty Minutes and the same as before the Car started right up.

While we had been waiting for the Roadside Assistance to arrive I had unjammed my Phone and called Jim at Windsor Gas and Diesel. Even though he had lost one of his Mechanics to a higher paying job he still told me to bring the Car in. We barely turned the corner after leaving the Doctor’s Office when the Battery Light came on and the Digital Displays were fading on and off. It’s hard driving with your fingers and toes crossed while you hope to make it to the shop.

Since we hadn’t eaten yet we left the Car with Jim while we walked to the Backroad Café. As usual the Service was fast, the Food cooked to perfection, our Coffee Cups kept full and the Bill was very reasonable. Since nothing else had started right today when I went to pay on the way out our Debit Card would not work so we had to use our Cash.

Back at Windsor Gas and Diesel by 11:00, Jim was starting to put the Car back together. It had been a Faulty Ground Cable that caused our morning to begin the way it did. While he finished that I took my Hardware Organizers from the back of the Truck so I can get some projects started back at the Trailer. Jim said we’d settle the Bill when he finishes the Truck.

Our next stop was Guardian Storage to pick up our Mail, before heading over to the Motor City Credit Union to find out what the problem has been with our account. A Sign in the front window explained it all by saying “We are closed until Tuesday June 5th while we update your improved Banking System”. We’ll find out tomorrow.

When we had to empty all our belongings out of our Home Kathy saw a flaw in how her Cabinet Space was organized so we headed over to Canadian Tire to see what they had that we could use. She was looking for a small Shelf that would just slide in across the shelf but we didn’t know the dimensions and they had several that would do the job. With the idea coming together we would simply need to measure the opening before deciding on which Shelf to purchase.

We stopped at Home Depot to pick up a small Junction Box that I need for another upcoming project we have planned. Since it was already past 2:30 we stopped at Dairy Queen for one of their Fast Meals but were disappointed to find they had discontinued our favourite. Feeling more refreshed we stopped at Shoppers Drug Mart for a few things before heading up Manning Road towards Home.

We were in for a big surprise when we reached the end of the Manning Road to find a number of Police Vehicles along with an Ambulance and Fire Truck. There was a Dump-Truck that was nosed into the Ditch apparently not able to stop at the sign.

Back at Home I spent the remainder of the day updating Kathy’s Medication and Medical History Records that she will need when she goes for her Cataract Surgery. We are still having problems getting On-Line so we’ll just do the best we can. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

It’s about time.

  3. I had cataract surgery last monday and WOW!! What a difference. It is such an easy op that I am ready to have the second eye done any time. My new eye has almost 20/20 vision for long distance. Reading is another story, I will still need reading glasses.
