Getting Mail, People Watching, Two Movies, and A Tornado Warning.

Our Location today is Windsor, Ontario, Canada.

Even though we are sleeping most of the night this getting down to the Lobby early every morning is wearing us down. There were different people having breakfast again today that we didn’t recognize. After having Bagels for breakfast today we headed back to our room to have our morning Coffee while reading at the Computers.

The Hotel Management once again insisted they needed to clean our room. We tried figuring out what we could do so they could clean and we wouldn’t be in their way.  Looking outside at the On/Off Rain we changed our minds about heading back to our site in McGregor to work at relaying the Flagstones that were scattered behind where the trailer gets parked. Kathy remembered that we still had some Movie Gift Cards to use and there were a couple of movies that we wanted to see. Checking the times at two of the local theaters we made plans to go to the Silver City Cinema-Plex.

We planned to pick up our mail at Guardian Storage first so were on our way to E.C. Rowe Expressway for a quick trip across town. Getting off at the Central Avenue cut-off we were at our first location in less then ten minutes.

With the three pieces of mail we were soon headed back towards the Devonshire Mall but we cheated. We passed through our old neighbourhood and drove past the house we used to own. We both agreed that we didn’t miss the work that was involved in keeping it clean and neat looking. That was another time and place in our lives.

We managed to walk around the Devonshire Mall checking out lots of shops we had just walked by the other day. When it was nearing lunch we stopped at the Food Court where we had Chinese Food for lunch. We must be doing something right because we didn’t have a large meal but felt quite sated. We even sat around People-Watching for a while after finishing our meal.

As we were leaving the Mall around 1:00 there was evidence that it had rained while we had been inside the Mall. We drove the few miles down the road to Silver City Cinema-Plex where we planned to see the movies we’d chosen. The first show was in the I-Max Theater and they said the chairs were recliners. That was a poor description of those chairs. As soon as you sat in them you were fighting with them not to be in a fully reclined position looking up at the ceiling. Since we had to chose specific seats I checked others around us to find they were all the same. Since we were early enough I returned to the Ticket Desk and exchanged the tickets for those in the back row against the wall. They still reclined slightly but not as bad as the others.

The first movie was “Dunkirk.” If you are a history buff this is an event that happen during the Second World War when the Nazi Army was trying to drive the Allied Troops into the sea. The movie focuses on the valiant attempt to evacuate as many of those troops as possible mostly by privately owned vessels back to England. The accuracy of the movie is overshadowed by the effects of Hollywood. We both gave it two thumbs up.

As soon as that movie was over I headed to the Ticket Desk and got our tickets to see the movie “Detroit.” This movie focuses around the July 1967 Riots. Now both Kathy and I remember them slightly different because she was a young mother visiting family just outside of Detroit on that day. I was still in my final year of high-school and was in downtown Windsor at a Classic Car Show by the river where the smoke from the buildings that had been set on fire was easily seen. There was one thing that we both remembered almost two years later there were some white police officers that went on trial for the murder of three young black men and part of this movie focused on that and the effects it had on everyone that had been traumatized in that event.  We again gave this movie two thumbs up.

It was past 7:00 when we left Silver City and there was evidence that it had again been raining while we had been inside the theaters. We drove over to Boston Pizza where we ordered a Medium Thin Crust Tuscan Pizza for supper. To us Boston Pizza makes Gourmet Pizzas that you can not get at your normal pizza shops whether it be Another Chain Outlet or a Mom and Pop. We like Hawaiian Pizzas but when we want something really special we get the Tuscan. We both love it and it didn’t overly fill us up. It rained again while we ate supper.

It was after 8:00 when we finally got back to the Hotel. After dealing with a phone message it was time to start writing the Blog. Just before hitting the Publish button the Weather Guessers talked about the Tornado Warning that had been issued earlier in the day for our area. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

  1. I guess every hotel is different but we used to hang the "do not disturb" sign for three days. We were not slobs, just did not want to be bothered. Your blog always makes me hungry!

  2. I agree ... do not disturb for a few days. Honestly, I'd just park myself on the bed and say go ahead and clean.

  3. When I win the lottery I am going to hire someone to come in every day to change the sheets on my bed and clean the bathroom. Love climbing into clean, tight sheets. Let the housekeepers in and enjoy;>)!!!
