Leaving La Posa South For The Season, Seeing RV Bloggers On The Road, Beautiful Scenery and Settled For The Night.

Our Location today is Snyder Hill BLM, Tucson, Arizona, U.S.A.

We both slept soundly enough last night that we were awake within minutes of one another totally rested. Even though we were happy to be facing another warm Arizona day it was also a very somber time because we were leaving an area that we have fallen in love with. Unlike past travel days we hadn’t done too much packing up last night so we took a quick look at out E-mails and Weather Reports before closing up the Computers. We’ll have some catching up to do tomorrow.
Leaving our Site in La Posa South.
It was minutes before 10:00 Arizona Time when we pulled the trailer from it’s spot over to the Dump-Out Station where there was already a short line ahead of us. With all our Waste Tanks dumped, Fresh Drinking Water Tank filled and Trash dropped off for the final time this season we turned the truck south on Arizona Highway 95 just after 11:00.
Heading out of La Posa South this morning.
We were making good time following speed limit until just before reaching the Yuma Testing Grounds where we got stuck behind a couple of “A” Class Motor Homes that would speed up if you tried to pass them and slow way down when there was oncoming traffic coming at you.
Driving by the Yuma Proving Grounds.
There was a little excitement for us just before we got to Yuma when we passed a black Jeep coming from one of the side roads. I recognized the Orange LTVA Sticker in the Windshield and knew that it was Tom and Deb Duchaine from the blog Celebrating the Dance out exploring the country side as they often do. I believe they recognized us as well and gave a short pursuit but because there was no place for us to pull over so we could talk. Sorry we couldn’t stop sooner for a short visit but we’ll keep in touch.
It was only another few miles past the VFW that traffic started the old Construction Stop and Go Dance down on Highway 95. When we finally got through it looked as if major road repairs had just been completed.
It was just after 1:00 when we stopped at the Walmart on East 32nd Street. With all the curbs that are installed in their lot it was hard to find a safe place to park. Before going to do our shopping, we walked across the parking lot to Del Taco where we were both very happy with the Chicken Burritos and tall drinks we had for lunch. We even sat a few extra minutes just to relax. Back at Walmart after picking up some things in the Sewing Department the rest of the time was spent refreshing some of our Food Stocks.
As we drove east on I-8 we discussed driving a little further today than originally planned because it would really shorten our traveling tomorrow. The scenery was just as Breathe-Taking as any we’ve seen and we’d just get lost in the moment. There were a few stretches of the road that really shook us up but the rest of the trip was enjoyable. We also appreciated having the Air Conditioning on in the truck when we saw the outside temperature was 36 C (97 F).
The Desert is bursting Green.
Stopping at the Love’s Gas Station at the junction of Highway 85 and I-8 while I fueled the truck Kathy got busy with window cleaning in an attempt to get rid of our newly acquired bug collection. It was a little tricky getting back on the road as there was a Traffic Accident partly blocking the entrance to the highway.
We had originally planned on spending the night at the Flying J Truck Stop but decided to drive to Snyder Hill BLM in Tucson. We’d read of other RV Bloggers staying there so we thought we give it a try. Everything was going great until we turned off I-10 and ended up in a major Construction Project. Dodging Potholes and Construction Barriers for six of the eight miles was the easy part. When we finally arrived at 7:00 the Sun had already set and not having been here before we settled for a spot close to the road. It took a three-inch lift to level the trailer but since this is only for one night it’s perfect.
Cold Fried Chicken and Salad for supper.
After opening the slides while Kathy finished packing away our groceries and making up supper I set up our CPAP Machines for the night. After driving 325.8 Miles it feels great to be parked for the night. Tomorrow we have less then Twenty Miles to arrive at the Pima County Fairgrounds for the Escapade. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!
