Change of Plans, Things Being Ordered and RVers Taco Tuesday.

Our Location today is Deming, New Mexico, U.S.A.

After being out in the warm sun working on the Stabilizers yesterday I just wasn’t in the mood to get right back at it this morning in fact I even slept in until 7:00 MST. After finishing breakfast, we both headed to the computers to do our daily reading and correspondence.

We had discussed what we were going to do as far as ordering things online that could be shipped to our location where-ever that might be it was just a matter of determining when. Since we had planned on leaving Dream Catcher RV Park on Saturday that would mean we’d have to wait until December to do any ordering. With more discussion about our travels we changed our plans and will be staying at least another week at this location.
After finishing my other indoor chores, I settled in for the long haul in my comfy chair. The first item was our Electrical Management System (EMS) from Progressive Industries to protect anything electrical in our Home whenever we might be plugged in. We had one in our Avalanche and were the only ones that were not affected by poorly wired parks on more than one occasion. These units have a Lifetime Warranty and if they are destroyed due to a Power Surge Progressive Industries will replace it free of charge. Ordering this unit through Camping World and using our Good Sam membership saved us twenty-five percent off what we would have paid ordering directly from Progressive Industries and it is being shipped directly from their factory.

After having spent months researching prices on Solar Panels, Charge Controllers and all the accessories to go with them we were now ready to place our order. There was one thing that changed though and that was who I was ordering through and it was all due to one factor, Time. When I had checked the Prices this past spring and summer they were much lower. One of the companies I had planned on getting most of our equipment from had repriced themselves out of our price range. They must have thought they had cornered the market on this.
Many RVers have told me that going to Quartzsite Arizona I’d get everything needed dirt cheap. I don’t know what sand box they were playing in but when I talked to Solar Mike on the phone and the prices he gave me for the size of panels I wanted was more expensive. I ordered our Monocrystalline Solar Panels and some Wiring Connections from Renogy Solar in California. The order has already been shipped at no cost to me and in New Mexico there is No Sales Tax. The order will arrive before we leave this location.

I did finally order our Xantrex Charge Controller and Remote Monitor from Solar Mike in Quartzsite. He does not ship anything nor would he except payment over the phone but when I told him we’d see him on December 2nd he taped the two boxes together with my name on them with the date December 2nd and put it on his desk. It is nice that people can still be taken on their word & promise.
After lunch our Verizon MiFi Hotspot stopped connecting us to the internet. I hear all kinds of people say they never have any problems with their units. What our problem is not the units we’ve had but the way the service representatives set up our accounts. Another hour and a half to get that mess straightened around again.

By that time of the afternoon it definitely was no use trying to organize the basement today. It had been two weeks since we last did our laundry so that worked for me. While getting some change for the machines at the office I was told that this was Taco Tuesday at the Hotel Restaurant next door and that most who attended Happy Hour would be going.
With the clothes washed and in the dryers, I went back to the trailer where Kathy had just spotted the event on the calendar. We needed a little fun so it only took a minute to say “Let’s Go”! Everyone at Happy Hour walked over to the Hotel and even more came in a little later. There were forty people from Dream Catchers RV Park that attended and with limited wait staff it was nearly 8:00 by the time we’d eaten but we had plenty of time to listen to many other RVer’s stories of where they came from and where they are going. That was when I remembered something I've never done before, our forgotten laundry. That's what I get for having fun.

After eating our supper Kathy helped me fold the clothes and we got back Home just before 9:00. What we’ll be doing tomorrow is still a mystery. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

It’s about time.

Ask a silly question:

What do you get when you see an endangered animal that eats only endangered plants?

  1. Our Solar panel we bought last summer was from Renolgy and free shipping to Ontario.
We did not like dealing with Solar Mike found Discount solar much better prices and friendlier when we bought ours 10 year ago. Last year in Quartzsite in January there was 12 solar places, all very competitive, But with the exchange rate so high it was cheaper to buy our stuff back home.
Good luck, with the cool weather there.

  2. Rick have you ever thought about teaching a class in fulltiming? You certainly know your subject. Fascinating reading even though I never leave my chair.

  4. Sometimes, we all just need to sit back and stay put. We have enjoyed our time here in the same park, it will be 2 weeks this Friday when we pull out.

  5. All laundry rooms should be like Dream Cathcers--reasonable, clean, and well laid out.I know what you mean about the time it takes to get the tacos.
