Last Travel Day For A Few Days and Closet Repaired.

Our Location today is Deming, New Mexico, U.S.A.

Sometime in the middle of the night I started feeling sick to my stomach so I decided to take a mint to settle it down. Since I was up I also decided to check if there were any other RVers in the Midland, Texas Walmart parking lot. I stopped counting when I got to twenty. After going back to bed and waking around 6:30 CST we didn’t wait too long before getting ready to leave. Going outside there were only five RVs left. We walked to the McDonalds for breakfast and by the time we returned at 7:30 there were only three RVs left. This is the same Walmart that George and Suzie from Our Awesome Travels were stranded in a few years ago because of a bad snowstorm. Glad they made it out okay and glad we didn’t have snow today.
We were heading west on I-20 before 8:00 trying to get in some serious mileage. Yes, we are retired Jan but we really seem bothered by the cold temperatures lately and watching the Weather Network we are trying to get to warmer climates because we are sleeping in our Home. At least we are not doing like we had to in 2013 when we towed our Avalanche 720 miles in one day to beat a snowstorm. Never Again!
We didn't even try towing at that speed.
When we left Midland, Texas this morning the temperature was only 39 F (4 C) and with the thick cloud covering we expected to have heavy rain any minute but instead only got the windshield wet a couple of times as we drove along. Eventually I-20 merged into I-10 taking us further west and slightly warmer temps.
We only stopped a couple of times at the Rest Areas to take short breaks and walk around. Two of those Rest Areas didn’t even have washrooms which is fine because we had or own.
As we drove from the Flatlands of Texas to the Mountain Passes we also changed to the Mountain Time Zone.
We were surprised how big El Paso Texas has gotten as it took nearly an hour to travel its distance on the highway.
Going through El Paso.
We finally stopped to get more fuel and for lunch around 1:30 MST in Fabens, Texas. We actually sat outside on their patio to enjoy our Chicken Sandwiches and Potato Wedges but we still needed our heavy sweaters to keep warm.
More El Paso.
We arrived at the Dream Catcher Escapees RV Park in Deming, New Mexico shortly after 2:30 MST. We’ve been members since 2010 but this is the first time we have ever stayed at one of the Escapees Parks. It didn’t take long to get settled in and I started changing the brackets for the Clothes Rods in the front closet while Kathy started making supper. Since we both seemed to be having the same problem with our stomachs a nice bowl of Chicken Noodle Soup and a warm cup of Tea seemed to settle them down.
I had to cut the Clothing Rods by the light of our Security Lights but once they were installed it was Kathy’s organizing skills that were needed to put the clothes away as I hauled them from the living room chairs back to the bedroom. We will be staying here for a while so that I can install the Strong-Arm Stabilizers, get other things installed before organizing the Basement. It took us five years to have our Avalanche organized the way we wanted. Let’s hope we can get our Jayco ready in a year.
Peter mentioned that his RV Dealer had told him not to use his closet for hanging his clothes. That made me chuckle because that was what Keystone had told us about using the fridge in our outdoor kitchen in the Avalanche.
The view out our door this evening.
Today we towed our trailer 415.2 miles which is only 2.6 miles less then yesterday. Now it’s time for a break. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

It’s about time.

  1. Deming is a nice area we usually stay at the Walmart there, a Nice Escapee Park in Benson AZ.

  2. We stayed in Midland/Odessa for three days. Nothing but lots of dust!
We will be stopping overnight at Dream Catchers on our way to AZ.
Glad that closet is finally stable.

  3. I'm not understanding the comment about not using the closet for hanging clothes. ?? What do they think you would put in there? Ha ha anyway, I'm happy you got it fixed.

  4. Make sure you go over to the clubhouse at 4 for the happy hour. If you've never been to the Adobe Grill it's something different. Share the meal. The Forgetaboutit restaurant was closed when we were there, if you go, let me know what you think. A trip to Pancho Villa State Park and a walk across the border to the Pink Store will keep you busy.

  5. First saw your blog about a year ago and just read through it to see what Jayco you switched to. We have a '14 361REQS. I put solar panels on it this summer. We'll be heading back to the SW this winter after Xmas.
