Cooking and Driving the Links.

Our Location today is McGregor, Ontario, Canada.

With our grandson Tyler being our first sleep over guest in our new Home last night really changed the way our night time routine ended. Most nights while I compose the blog Kathy has her shower or sits quietly reading on her own computer. With our young guest being entertained by the television it was enough of a distraction that after numerous attempts and only completing two paragraphs I retreated to the bedroom to finish our composition. Luckily the editor only had to roll over and after proofing the written product she was fast asleep herself. Everyone slept soundly and Tyler only found a single flaw in our making of the guest bed which was our fault not in the design. We had removed the back cushions instead of replacing them to create a headboard.

For breakfast Kathy decided it was a great day for pancakes and we all enjoyed her special way of making them. When the first meal of the day was over Tyler assisted in closing up the couch.
Pancakes topped with syrup and Strawberries.
When he asked what we were doing before lunch I said I wanted to mow the grass on our site. He remembered seeing our Black & Decker mower/trimmer on Father’s Day and insisted he’d do it. That sounded good but there was a problem. Last week when I was removing as many things from the basement of the Avalanche trailer I had to pile items high inside of our garden shed. It would take a quite few minutes just to dig the mower out and then again repacking the shed.
Digging out the lawnmower.

I would definitely like to restock the basement of our new Home but at present time it is the safe storage spot for the replacement rear window for the truck. Once it’s installed I hope to spend more time organize our basement. Tyler found it difficult to maintain pressure on the switch so after a few tips from someone who has done it before he got the job completed.
Giving Tyler tips on using our mower.
For lunch Kathy busied herself cooking Perogies on the stove while I was outside grilling some Johnsonville Brats on the Weber Q. Not knowing how late we would be having supper Kathy wanted to be certain we were well fed before we headed out for the afternoon.
Perogies with sour cream and bacon with green beans and Johnsonville Brats.
While eating our lunch we had a call from Jim at Windsor Gas and Diesel. He has our new part in but he needs all the chipped keys for the truck so they will all be programmed alike. Since we were going to be busy this afternoon I told him we’d be there in the morning.
Tyler had a 2:00 “Tee Time” to play golf. He has been golfing now for three years but being only fourteen years of age was too young to drive the Golf-cart by himself at this park. Neither Kathy or I golf but we do drive so I made my first trip around the golf course today as Tyler’s chauffer.
Tyler typically golfs fairly close to parr but not today. The problem was that he was golfing by himself where he normally golfs with family or friends. There were even a couple of foursomes that needed a short rest and insisted that Tyler play through. The end result was that he was not playing at a relaxed pace and the more frustrated he became because of the inaccuracy of his shots the higher his score went. At least we weren’t walking the entire distance and it was a beautiful sunny day with comfortable temperatures. Tyler completed eighteen holes of golf in two and a half hours.
We were back at the trailer by 4:40 where Kathy had all the windows open and was enjoying the refreshing breeze but she hadn’t expected us back home until closer to 6:00. In an effort to lift someone’s spirits we took Tyler to the 19th Hole Restaurant for supper. We all enjoyed one of their delicious sandwich combos that would quell our appetites for the rest of the night.
There were hundreds of golf course squatters or should I say honkers.

Tyler will be spending one more night with us and we’ll bring him home to Tecumseh in the morning. We also have errands to run and hopefully one will be to bring the truck Home. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

  1. What a treat to have your grandson spend some time with y'all. Many kids his age are just too busy to be with their grandparents.
