Our Location today is Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA.
When Kathy researches things for us to do it’s not always
going to a museum, concert or one of the wonders of the world. Today our outing
was to a mall. A Mall you’d sneer! Why go to a mall? It just so happens that
the Sawgrass
Mills Mall in Fort Lauderdale is
advertised as The
Largest Mall in The USA and even
though we’re not shopaholics we do like to look around and be able to say we
were there.

Another reason Kathy had spotted that there was a Rain Forrest Café inside this mall. They even told us the closest
entrance to park near since Kathy didn’t want to spend the day walking around a
mall that was perfect and huge. Well we parked near the entrance we thought had
been recommended but it wasn’t. The entrance we used brought us through an
outdoor strip mall type setting of stores that eventually brought you to the
indoor mall. We had to stop many times to check the mall maps to find our way
to the restaurant. You could get lost in this mall and not come outside for
weeks. We spent nearly an hour walking through the maze of what appeared to be
a bunch of smaller malls and outer strips that had been covered over by a bunch
of varying types of roof coverings before arriving at the Rain Forest Café.

By this time we were really hungry so after pouring over the
stack of menus presented to us and finding that they had discontinued the
Seniors Menu we simply ordered fish and chips for lunch. There were all kinds
of families with young children around us that couldn’t wait for the exotic
animals hiding in the surrounding jungle to start their animated routines.
We ordered a cup of soup as our appetizers that was part of
the meal and were just starting to relax after finishing them when our meals
arrived. Fortunately they didn’t over serve the meal with fries but the problem
was the four pieces of breaded fish on each of our plates. To resolve the issue
we simply cut the breading off the fish in order to almost clean our plates.
Yes we could have shared a single meal and have been very satisfied.
After leaving we attempted to retrace our steps in reverse
to find our way back to the truck. We spotted a unique shop called The Art of
Shaving and since I shave with
that sort of razor Kathy thought we should check it out. When I apply the shaving
cream I use an applicator brush made by Wilkinson shaving products but the
bristles start falling out the very first time I use them. So after going
through many of those brushes over the years Kathy decided it was time to buy a
decent brush. They have brushes there that you could use as a down payment on a
car but we stuck to the less expensive brush made from Badger hair. We’ll be
trying it out and seeing if it holds up better than the ones I’ve been using.
We finally made it back to the outdoor strip mall stores and
we stopped to try to find some shoes that would give Kathy better arch support
at a few of the shoe stores. Everything she tried just didn’t seem to have the
support of her Dr. Scholl’s inserts that she is presently wearing so we walked
away empty handed.
By this time we’d almost walked off our lunch and were
within sight of the truck but wanted a lite snack. We stopped at a shop where
you make your own Frozen Yogurt Sundaes. Kathy added chocolate sauce on her’s
while I added mandarin oranges and peaches.
On our way home we passed by something else we might check
out this week. For supper we enjoyed a cup of coffee and a cookie were very
satisfied. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe
and Enjoy!
It’s about time.

Employee Evaluation
"Since
my last report, this employee has reached rock bottom and has started to
dig."
You're brave. Or maybe there's another word? No malls for me if I can help it.
ReplyDeleteHas Kathy tried Superfeet insoles? I'm wearing the copper ones that are a little cushier than the blues. It seems that all shoe manufacturers today assume you will bring your own foot beds and so they don't spend any money on them. REI carries them.
