Our Location today is Daytona Beach, Florida, USA.
After experiencing the huge crowds of people and the warm
temperatures on Daytona Beach yesterday we had no problem sleeping last night.
Heck we didn’t even hear all the loud traffic rolling down the road next to the
campground. When we woke up the rain we had last night had finally stopped but
the weather forecast was calling for more of it later today. Since today is our
last day at this camp we had a lot of things that needed to be done.
We were out the door by 9:30 headed for the grocery store. We were on our way to a grocery store address that we’d entered into the GPS which was ten miles from camp but when we spotted one as we were driving by we went there instead. Having only driven two miles that was a time saver. Kathy armed with her shopping list started looking for our food staples while I was busy refilling our drinking water from the in-store water dispenser. Kathy hasn’t had any kidney problems this year because she hasn’t drank any water from the faucet.
On our way back to the trailer it was time to top off the truck with diesel.
The last time we did that was before we left the Keys. Having driven around
Fort Lauderdale and now Daytona Beach the truck took over eighty gallons to
fuel up.
After bringing everything into the trailer we sat down to
enjoy our lunch. While Kathy continued putting things away I went outside and
started prepping the truck for towing as well as stowing the Weber and other
outdoor items for travel.
We didn’t want to have to start doing laundry as soon as we
arrived at another campground so while Kathy got the garbage collected I sorted
the laundry and headed out the door. I was about fifty yards from the laundry
room when the forecasted rain for today came down like a fire hose. Luckily
nobody else was doing their laundry when I arrived and since I’d brought a book
to read I had dried off about the same time as our laundry. The entire time the
rain never stopped and sometimes when the thunder and lightning got really
intense so did the rain. By 5:00 it had slowed to a drizzle so I didn’t waste
any time getting back to the trailer.
I unpacked the clothes while Kathy made our supper. As we
were enjoying our meal watching the Weather Channel they were showing signs of
possible flooding in different areas along the Atlantic including the Daytona
area. The reason was we have had more rain in the last two days than they
thought we would and now the ground is oversaturated. That’s when the rain
really started coming down again.
As long as we don’t have heavy rain in the morning we’ll be
on the road heading slowly north again. Thanks for following along and feel
free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!
It’s about time.
