Slightly Wet Travel Day.

Our Location today is Newberry, South Carolina, USA.

Luckily for us the rain finally did stop just before we went to bed last night. Unfortunately we both had a pretravel night’s sleep waking every few minutes for no reason at all and then having trouble to fall back to sleep. I had even tried taking a regular strength Tylenol in order to relax with no luck. My sister Anna had given us some herbal tea that actually helped us with our sleepless nights and we had actually picked up extra to bring on our trip. The problem is that we forgot it home and we haven’t found anybody that sells it here in the US.

I managed to lay in bed until nearly 7:00 this morning before my back told me to get moving. It was only minutes before Kathy joined me to have breakfast. We’d managed to get most of the inside of the trailer prepared to travel last night but because of yesterday’s rain the tanks still needed to be drained and hoses stored before we could get on the road. Stepping outside by 8:00 in the morning there was still enough humidity in the air that we both needed to change to dry clothes before we hit the road.

Even with our delay we were pulling on to I-95 North by 9:10 this morning. We didn’t even turn on the GPS as we knew to just follow the road until we passed Savanah Georgia. We did however stop at the first Camping World we saw in St. Augustine in order to pick up extra Day/Night Shade repair kits. We’ve only lost one so far but others are starting to jam and go up unevenly. Our stop only added ten minutes to our trip.

Just before noon we stopped at Cracker Barrel in Georgia where we had our supper for lunch. By 1:00 we were back on the road. We made another quick stop to stretch our legs an hour later while I transferred fuel.

After crossing the state line into South Carolina we soon learned that the condition of their highways is in completion with Michigan for the poor shape they are in. Shortly after 4:00 it started to rain which nobody likes to drive in but it wasn’t too bad. Then around 4:20 the rain got so intense everyone was down to a crawl with their warning flashers on. The first exit we saw we took.

Seeing another Cracker Barrel we thought we’d have an early lite lunch for supper. There were more RVs in the parking lot than cars and the place was packed. Luckily the rain had stopped and since it was just after 5:00 we decided to go on.

By 6:00 a gentle rain started falling but just before 7:00 it had everyone down to a crawl again. That was our cue to call it a night so the first exit brought us to the Love’s Truck Stop in Spartan South Carolina. We managed to find a spot to park along the curb where the truckers park. We had to dawn our raincoats in order to get in the trailer fairly dry.

After driving 422.4 miles today that bed is looking very inviting. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

Why did the skeleton refuse to go to the monsters party?

Because he knew no body would dance with him.
