Record Cold Night.

Our Location today is Punta Gorda, Florida, USA.

We ran the cube heater on the stove overnight so that we’d keep warm but when I got down to the kitchen this morning at 7:00 I nearly went back upstairs to keep warm. It didn’t take long to turn on our second heater and to turn on the computer to see what the outside temperature was for our area. Luckily it was 39 F (4 C) but with the northwest wind blowing in at 15 mph the temp felt more like freezing. I still had a chance to finish reading all the morning blogs we follow before Kathy got up just before 8:30.

It was definitely a hot cereal and coffee morning. Looking out the windows and seeing the few people brave enough to be out that early wearing long pants and coats as heavy as the ones we’d left back home. With temperatures this cool and forecasted to be below freezing tonight I thought that it would be a good day to get my outside chores done early.
Someone else doing his chores quickly.
Dressed in long pants shoes and a jacket I didn’t waste any time outside. Within a half hour I’d dumped both our grey tanks and flushed the black tanks. I’d also transferred fuel to the main tank in the truck and repacked my toolbox getting everything put where it belonged.

When I came inside my hands were frozen and Kathy was making a nice warm soup in an attempt to warm us up. Other than a walk to the park office to pick up our order of the Solution that was shipped to us from California we basically stayed inside out of the 24 mph northwest winds.
Notice the Fauns in the Palm tree all blowing to the right.
By 5:30 Kathy was starting to feel like she was trapped in a cage and decided we’d go out for supper. Since the other day we have had a taste for Chinese food she found a place online. After setting the GPS we were on our way to Punta Gorda and our destination was the King House. The plaza it was located in had lots of vacant store fronts but there seemed to be a steady stream of people coming and going. Inside were four tables that you could eat at after you ordered your meal at the counter. The utensils and plates were all disposable but the food was tasty, fresh, hot and very reasonably priced.

You can tell you are getting familiar with an area when you are able to drive home after dark without the use of a GPS. As soon as we got in the door of the trailer we scrambled to turn on both our electric heaters that will hopefully keep us warm tonight.

Kathy and I would like to welcome Speedy AKA Joe from the blog post Somewhere in Time as our latest follower. We have been reading his blog about him and his wife Sherry working up to retirement so they could travel. Then when retirement arrived a twist of fate has them raising Kris but the Gypsy in them is stirring again. Let’s all hope and pray for them to sell their home so they can get back on the road soon.

Here is hoping we all survive this record cold setting tonight no matter what part of this continent you’re in. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!
