Running In Circles.

Our Location today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

It truly is a good thing that we are retired or we’d never have time to do anything. We actually slept in this morning getting up just before 7:30. Somehow even with the Air Conditioner running all night we managed to sleep soundly. A good theory for that happening was all the fresh air that we were exposed to while working outside yesterday.

Shortly after we finished breakfast I was on the phone with the courier service that left notification that my purchase from E-bay had arrived. After explaining that we’d again not be home I suggested that I would pick it up at their local depot but the phone book didn’t list it. After getting the address I had to map quest the address but that kept coming up wrong. Finally we lucked out by finding the street name on an old paper map. We’ll tend to that tomorrow.

As soon as I found the location we were on our way to one of many more stops today. Kathy had made a purchase at Shopper’s Drug Mart yesterday that she had misread so we stopped to exchange it for what she really wanted. Kathy had to go to her family doctor to get the results of her blood test and a few other tests which she passed with flying colors because her Cholesterol levels have dropped big time. Unfortunately as she was leaving she was reminded that her yearly doctor’s fee was due and she didn’t have the cash to pay it. What those fees cover is the ability to call in prescriptions and have Doctors notes written without having to go to the doctor’s office each time and it is Income Tax Deductible.

On the way to the Credit Union we stopped at the trailer because there was some hardware that I had stored in the basement that I need to work on the wood project at Kevin’s. Unfortunately the stain that I thought would work was too dark so we headed towards Home Depot. Our five minute drive only took twenty minutes while we waited for a freight train to clear the intersection. At Home Depot we found such an array of different tones of stain and of course we both had different ideas of what to get so the only thing we walked out with was a stain chart. We finally made it to the Credit Union.

By this time it was noon hour and we were close to the apartment so we stopped in for lunch. We finished the last of the Hungarian Hulka that we had the other night.

We were back on the road by 12:30 heading for the Canadian Blood Donor Clinic. The quickest way to get there is by turning up Banwell Road to the Expressway. Today that was a mistake. With the construction detour from Tecumseh road traffic was backed up half way back to Tecumseh Road and ninety five percent of it was to make Left hand turns to get around the construction. I just made it on time for my scheduled appointment but there was another problem. There were a lot of walk-in donors which is good but there weren’t enough staff for the number of donations.

It was nearly 3:00 before we were on our way to our next stop which was back to Kathy’s doctor’s office so she could pay her yearly fee. From there we stopped at the trailer and determined the proper stain for our project using the stain chart. Stopping back at Home Depot we found the proper stain and also found a nice pendant that will help accent the project nicely.

Today is Election Day in the province of Ontario so now Kathy and I were headed over to our polling station to cast our vote. The problem is our polling station is on the other side of the construction blocking traffic on Tecumseh Road. Having already seen the backups on the Expressway I decided to take the northern connector road instead. Again the five minute drive took nearly a half hour because it now included rush hour traffic with people just trying to get home from work. With our voting notification and ID we voted in less than five minutes.

Since we were just around the corner we stopped at our daughter Karen’s home. She had asked me to modify a metal room divider for her. So while I was at Kevin’s yesterday I grabbed my grinders. Once we verified the modification it only took me about fifteen minutes to complete the task before we sat and visited a while longer.

Taking the expressway home it only took about ten minutes as we drove in the opposite direction than the long lines of traffic heading in the other direction. Tomorrow is another busy day but at least we won’t be running in circles. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

  1. Oh my gosh that is so true! How we were able to do everything we did before we were retired is way beyond me. It has been nonstop since we both retired.

Congratulations, Kathy, on a great doctor report.
