Our Location today is Sugarloaf Key, Florida.
Shortly after breakfast Kathy and I decided we’d go to the
office and attempt to make a reservation to return to the Sugar Loaf KOA next
year. There is still a lot of things that we have to see in the Keys that we
just can’t see in the short time that we’ve been here. The first problem we
found was the sites we were trying to book away from the pool and bar were
already booked. The next problem was the woman who finalizes all the
reservations is away for the next two weeks and will have to get back to us
when she returns.
Since we were out we walked over to visit with Doug andNancy. When we got there Doug was sitting under the awning enjoying his morning
coffee while Nancy was gone to do their laundry. It was only minutes and she
was coming back with all their clothes folded but as she said they travel light
so even the laundry is in smaller loads.
Our conversations seemed to flow like a continuation of the
conversations from the last time we spoke never rushed and always left us
feeling comfortable. They showed us how compact their VW Westfalia was and how
they traveled in their limited space where literally every inch is carefully
used. Before we knew it was nearly 1:00 and Kathy and I headed back to our
trailer to have Homemade Chicken Noodle Soup for lunch.
Once the dishes were washed I gathered the garbage before
going outside to get the chairs set up under the awning before taking the time
to exercise using the Dumb-bells that we carry. With the high humidity I only
lasted a half hour in the sunshine.
Kathy had been vacuuming inside the trailer and had just
finished when I went back inside. We then started looking at different return
routes home for next year. Like we’ve posted before we like to plan ahead.
Just before 4:00 Kathy started making a few snacks while I went
to invite Doug and Nancy over for Happy Hour. Again the conversation seemed to
pick up where we left off before lunch. Now it was our turn to give a tour of
our trailer. They were amazed saying it was as big as their apartment back
home. Showing them all the modifications we’ve been and still plan to do had
them impressed because they couldn’t believe the RV manufactures would be so
wasteful of such precious space.
The other day a neighbor that parked next to us had told us
about a very good restaurant in the area and when we’d read Nancy and Doug’s
blog they had stopped at that very place. So being it was nearly 6:00 we asked
Nancy and Doug if they could show us where it was. Without hesitation they
agreed.

It was now after 7:00 when we pulled in to No Name Key
cautiously driving down the streets because there were Key Deer everywhere.
Even though there are signs not to feed them some people were stopped feeding
them causing the deer to fight for it. Further down the road nearly hidden from
sight was the No Name Pub. It was so well hidden I nearly drove by it
altogether and then it was tricky to find a parking spot in the packed lot.
Inside the restaurant the tables were all full but luckily
since Doug and Nancy had already been there before they knew there was an
outdoor patio. We sat at one of the brightly colored picnic tables under an
umbrella where it didn’t take long before our waitress was taking our orders.
The meals were tasty reasonably priced and the atmosphere relaxing and
enjoyable. We’ll definitely be going back someday.
I did something tonight that I don’t normally do. I left the
camera back at the trailer but Nancy did manage to get a few pictures that we’ll
get later. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe
and Enjoy!
It’s about time.
