We Thought This Was FL FL FL Florida.

Our Location today is Crystal River, Florida.

Through the course of the night I kept on waking up for no reason but was always able to fall back to sleep. Just before 8:00 when I decided to actually climb out of bed it only took seconds to realize that we hadn’t turned any heat source on before going to bed last night. I immediately turned on the furnace and the electric cube heater in order to warm up the inside of the trailer to the point we wouldn’t see the vapor of our breath when we spoke. I let the furnace run for an entire cycle before shutting it down which took over an hour even with the aid of the cube heater. The cube heater has remained on all day and even sitting in the same room with it as I write this post am not overly warm.

Now I know we don’t have anything to complain about being down in the sunshine state and seeing all the northern states and provinces that are now digging themselves out after being hit by winter storm Hercules. Our kids have already E-mailed us saying how lucky we were to head south when we did. Now everyone has another winter storm Ion that is bring severe Artic conditions across the upper plains bringing Wind Chills of -60 F around Bismarck, North Dakota.
Yes the temperatures actually hit the mid 40’s F today but for the short time I spent outside doing a few errands and barbecuing our supper I was sure glad to return to the warmth of the trailer because the cold wind made it feel much colder. While doing one errand I had a chance to speak with Donna and Ralph from Our Adventures With Tassie who are just two sites over. Kathy and I had met Donna for only a few minutes last January the day we were leaving to attend the Tampa RV Show but Ralph was down with a bug. We’ll get a chance to better visit throughout this month.

January 7th 2013
This is not Florida weather.
I know that many of you are jealous that we are where we are but last year on the 7th of January Kathy and I were walking around in shorts, sandals and T-shirts not long pants and our winter jackets. Like the title said we thought this was Fl. Fl. Fl. Florida but it feels like home. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

It’s about time.

  1. Just about the entire US is in the freeze mode. Back home in Ohio they are getting really hit with snow and very low temps...yuck!

  2. I'm sorry it's been so cold for you. I think it's going to be worse next week. It was hot about 2 weeks ago and I was complaining! Head south, it's much warmer.
