Our Location today is Crystal River, Florida.
We don’t know why this keeps happening but since before Christmas
both my Windows 7 laptop and Kathy’s Windows 8 laptop are unable to post our
blog. They have also been receiving an unusual amount of Pop-up Advertisements.
You click on a blog and you get an Advertisement. Luckily we brought the old
Vista laptop just in case so after a lot of work on my part I’m finally able to
post our blog. Thanks for your patience and understanding.
Making the Best of
a Blah Day.
Sunday night I was in bed asleep before the blog posted
itself at 8:00 but that didn’t mean that I slept the whole night. Luckily we
had brought along a product called Breathe Right strips which helps keep your
breathing passages open so you breathe naturally throughout the night. Apparently
Kathy couldn’t keep her eyes open after 9:30 and soon joined me.
The first thing we did this morning was to turn on the
Weather Network to see how we were going to get hit tonight through tomorrow.
Yeah like I’ve said before we are luckier than most but we just didn’t think it
would get this cold this far into Florida. While we were having breakfast our
NOAA radio suddenly burst out a warning about the upcoming cold and freezing
weather for the area, telling of its effects and how to take precautions.
After lunch we were looking for different scenery to look at
since these present four walls were starting to look like a rerun of a bad
movie so we headed out in search of a Home Depot or Lowe’s. Little did we know
that there was one not even five miles from our location and with the help of
an associate we were on our way in less than ten minutes. Unfortunately we had
eaten a light breakfast and lunch and the aromas from the Chili’s across the
parking lot was calling our names. Since it was too late for lunch and too
early for supper we ordered a combo appetizer that we shared. It was a nice
combo and we enjoyed it.
We started seeing landmarks from the area that we recognized
from last year and ended up at the spot where we took our tour to go swimming
with the Manatees last March. The cold wind that was blowing today would surely
have brought the Manatees from the cold Gulf waters to bathe in the warmth of
the hot springs. Another store we stopped at was Harbor Freight to look for
some slightly heavier straps for our bicycle carrier. We struck out so we just
slowly meandered our way back to the RV Park.
Once Kathy was inside she depressurized the water system so I
could disconnect the hoses and bring the water filter and regulator in for the
night to avoid freeze damage. Once inside we turned on the water pump for use
through the evening. To top off our afternoon snack we each had a jelly
sandwich and I’m still going to bed as soon as this blog is posted. Unfortunately
Blogger is not completely loading where we make our entries on neither Kathy’s
nor my laptop and it’s nearing midnight so we’ll try again in the morning.
Getting All the Bugs Out.
We weren’t in bed twenty minutes and our NOAA radio went off
again telling us something we already knew. Baby it’s cold outside and it’s
going to freeze. Back in bed not even ten minutes it went off again. Kathy
pulled the plug and the batteries and would later reset it after breakfast.
Last night Monday we had the heat on, warm PJs and our warm
comforter on the bed. That was overkill and within an hour we were both
shedding the extra covers. In the morning the Weather Network showed we were at
26 F but felt like 17 F with the light breeze that was blowing. Many of the pet
owners were encouraging their pets to do their thing as close to the door as
possible.
We lost a can of soda to the hard freeze last night. |
Even though we are just recovering from a bug and the
temperature was cool we attended a planned park Potluck. It was well attended
and as usual no one went away hungry. We sat with Full-timers Marg and John who used to own a home near Pontiac, Michigan and even though everyone else had packed up and gone back to their trailers by 6:30 we continued talking until nearly 8:00. We are all looking forward to each passing day as the forecast
shows a slow but steady increase in temperatures which will help the outdoor
activities get us back to better health. We are also planning on a few more visits before they leave on the 15th of January for their next adventure
To all our friends and relatives back home stay safe and
keep warm. Spring will be here before you know it. Thanks for following along
and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

Same thing happened to me. Go into your browser extensions and see if something strange was downloaded. I had to deselect two programs that I have no idea how but got downloaded.

I use google chrome for my browser and write directly in Blogger, no problem posting here.
ReplyDeleteGood luck and keep warm.
Google Chrome on Windows 8 will not allow me to write directly on our blogs, something I have been doing for years but when I go to IE it works fine...will try to take the time and figure out why but for now IE ends up being the quick fix.
