Is It The North Pole? Let’s Go Back South!

Our Location today is Wapakoneta, Ohio.

When we checked in at Corbin, Kentucky K.O.A. yesterday they told us the area was under a Frost advisory for the night. I set up the Electrical and water only with the intention of disconnecting the water after we’d had our showers. So that’s what I did after posting the blog and showering I went outside in what felt like freezing temperatures disconnected, drained and stored our hoses and filter system.
There was frost on the windows.
This morning I managed to see the sun coming up through our rear window and verified on our thermometer that the temperature was indeed sitting at the freezing mark. I caught up on reading last nights and this morning’s blogs and E-mails. By 8:00 Kathy had joined me for a light breakfast before we started our routine of getting ready to hitting the road. Once the inside was ready it took only about five minutes to raise the jacks and stow the power cord before pulling out of the campground at 9:10 to continue our journey north bound.

As expected we had no problems with heavy traffic because this was Saturday which kept a lot of commuter traffic off the roads. The sky remained clear all morning but the temperature only managed to climb to the upper 40’s by late afternoon.

We stopped at Cracker Barrel for lunch again today allowing us to relax from the day’s travel. We made another quick stop at the Flying J to get fuel since our last fill up was in Atlanta. While putting the fuel in I needed to put my winter jacket on to stop the cold wind from going through me.
Once we got back on I-75 it wasn’t very long before we were welcomed back into the state of Ohio that we haven’t seen since January 5th of this year. The clouds became so thick that you could barely see any clear sky at all. Not being used to sitting for long periods of time by 3:00 we needed to stretch our legs as we were both starting to cramp up pretty badly. As luck would have it the next exit advertised a Meijer Store which worked out perfectly. We had a chance to walk around the store for awhile before buying a few last minute groceries that will last us through to Monday.

Feeling revitalized from the walk it made it easier for the last half hour of today’s 281 mile trip. By 4:30 we were registering for the next two days at the Wapakoneta, Ohio K.O.A. This will give us a little rest as well as a chance to explore this area a bit better before heading home. We have stayed here many times in the past but never had a chance to look around the area. Well tomorrow that will change.

After being guided to our site I chocked the wheels and had Kathy open the trailer slides and turn on the furnace while I unhooked the truck and plugged the power in while wearing my winter jacket again. (Sound Familiar?) The office warned us of freezing temperatures in the area for tonight. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

It’s about time.

  1. I've always wanted to go to the Neil Armstrong Museum! We had dinner once at the Bob Evans right off 75, and it was really good -- better than the ones at home! Stay warm!!
