Another Rainy Travel Day

Our Location Today is Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada.

We awoke Saturday morning to a steady rainfall so we enjoyed a leisurely breakfast hoping the weather would clear. That didn’t happen so dressing for the weather it was time to flush the tanks and get ready to hit the road. Once the truck was hooked up I went inside to dress down for the trip.

On the road by 10:30 the road conditions kept the travel well below speed limit but there were still a few crazies out there. By noon we stopped at the Beamsville cutoff to enjoy our lunch at Wendy’s substituting chili for the fries helping to take the chill from our bodies we were feeling from the dampness. Before getting back on the road I called our son’s home and spoke to Jenniffer our daughter-in-law confirming our get-together for tonight.

In less than thirty minutes we were pulling into the Niagara Falls K.O.A. just as the rain stopped. There was a problem because not only did the park have all the rain we had experienced through the night and morning they had also had high winds that brought down tree limbs. A few campers had also been foolish enough to have left their awnings out during the storm and were now facing insurance claims.

We headed to our assigned site only to return to the office for another because it was totally flooded. The next site had an asphalt pad that was also submerged. We spotted a site that was dry and we could fit in so Kathy used the phone and informed the office of our move.

Under over cast skies and cool breezes we quickly set up anticipating more wet weather. Once everything was set up outside we went in to arrange the inside. That was like a signal and the sky opened up with another downpour that lasted another half an hour. The sites that had started to dry out were again miniature lakes. Finally the clouds started to give way to some beautiful sunshine that began warming the cool temps.

Kathy started making a salad and side dishes while I set out the barbecue to grill up some Johnsonville Brats for supper. After enjoying our meal Kathy cleaned up inside while I started setting up the fire pit. With the dry hot summer all of us have experienced this year our fires have been few and far between.

Our son Gary and daughter-in-law arrived by 7:30 to visit by the fire and see our trailer for the first time. We talked about a lot of things until we noticed how cold it was getting and it was nearly 11:00 pm. We had a nice visit and said goodbye until tomarrow.

All that fresh air and our warm showers made Kathy and I really sleep-in this morning. This afternoon we’ll be heading over to Gary and Jen’s for more visiting with them and the grandkids.
Hopefully the weather will hold out for today and our trip homeward tomorrow. With only 107 days until Christmas we want to enjoy as much beautiful weather as we can.
Thanks for following our adventures. Be Safe and Enjoy!

  4. Oh but the sound of rain on the roof of an RV is like music to my ears at night... Just so it stops raining during the daytime!
