Gusty.

Our Location today is Windsor, Ontario.

It was another back-and-forth night between my Recliner and Bed. Though I did wake feeling refreshed this morning, it took an extra Ten Minutes before Kathy came out to join me. Looking outside we could see the High-Rises miles away quite clearly.

Breakfast was different this morning, instead of a Snack we enjoyed Muffins with a bit of Butter. The change was very satisfying.

Last night’s forecast had called for Possible Thunderstorms, but we were fortunate enough to sleep through the noise. Moments after sitting at our Computers with our Coffees, we started hearing significant Wind Gust that would be measured above the Forty MPH (62 KLH) range that would vary throughout the day. Even as I sit here writing this post it continues to blow. Hopefully, it will not continue the entire day tomorrow.

At noon, in order to use up a loaf of Bread before it spoils, we enjoyed Salmon Sandwiches for lunch. We actually saw a few splashes of Sunshine on and off this afternoon before it would disappear behind the Clouds again. Luckily, the Above Freezing Temperatures combined with the Wind worked together to break down the plow piles of winter waste. There were people walking on the Ganatchio Trail, that were being pushed into short runs from that same Wind. Being stiff from the additional walking we did yesterday, made our choice to stay in, much easier.

On the “6 o’clock Local News”, the Weather Guesser had to make changes to this weekend’s forecast. Either we’ll be putting our Winter Coats back on, or we’ll spend more time inside.

Once the News was finished, we shared a Store-Bought Thin-Crust Medium Chicken Pizza for supper, then we watched a few episodes of “Law and Order”.

I’ll be busy tomorrow, hopefully not all day.

Fog, Rain and Rude Bully.

Our Location today is Windsor, Ontario.

After only spending only an Hour in my Recliner last night, the remainder of the night was again spent in Bed. This morning, I actually had the chance start my Computer, before looking out the Balcony Door. The sky was filled with Fog again but not nearly as bad as the last Two Days. I could make out the vehicles below and the shadow of the abutting street.

When Kathy came out to join me Twenty Minutes later, she thought that she had slept in. The first thing she wanted to know was what appointments we had today. Luckily, there were none, but we would have a busy day.

It was another breakfast snack before finishing our Coffees while reading as much as we could on our Computers, before heading out. I was still sipping away when the Optometrist Office called saying my New Computer Glasses had arrived. Just something else to add to today’s adventures.

Kathy actually waited for me a the rear entrance while I retrieved the Car. By that time Drizzle was starting to cut through the wall of Fog. Driving down Riverside Drive was simple enough but once we turned up the side-street, things became a little more blurred.

Out first stop was Health First Pharmacy to collect the Prescription Renewal that I called in yesterday. It was waiting in the drawer for me to pick up.

Rather than driving back towards home, we stopped at Popeye’s to have lunch from their $4,00 Menu. A great way to keep our costs down, while still satisfying our needs.

We finally made it back to the McDougall Medical Center. Trying to find a parking spot was insane. Kathy stayed in the Car, while I went to our Optometrist’s Office. I had ordered Computer Glasses but they made me Reading Glasses. The had handed me a reading card when I picked them up but without thinking I could read it perfectly, like a book in my lap. That night when I tried to use them on the Computer, I nearly had to stare at the ceiling in order to read it. Today, I held the card at shoulder level and could read it perfectly. Back in the Car, the Rain had increased, eliminating most of the Fog.

Our next chore was to collect our Mail and the easiest way to get there was past the house we used to own near the Devonshire Mall. We had done all the landscaping, planting Shrubs, Trees and Grasses along with making the Flower Beds. We both cringed at the way it looks now.

Collecting our Mail at Guardian Storage, it was surprising to find the Box half full. When that happens it generally means that we have another stop to make at the Credit Union. There were Three Tellers open and I was the only customer.

Since we were in no hurry to get back home, we walked around the newly reorganized Dollarama. The reason for doing so is not all the outlets have the same stock on hand. Making certain to get things we needed from our Shopping List. When we arrived at the Cashier, we allowed a few other people to go ahead since they only had a single item. We were Three/Quarter way through our purchase when a Bully tries pushing our stuff off the counter, saying he was in a hurry and late for work. I stood my ground and told him what to do. He left empty handed.

It was still Raining and the School Buses would be out, so we spent another Hour walking around the Zehr’s grocery store. When I spotted a few things that we normally buy that were 40% Off, we picked up a few of those as well.

By the time we were headed for home the Rain had finally stopped, which made it easier to use our Folding Two Wheeled Shopping Cart to bring our purchases upstairs to the Apartment.

Once everything was put way, we were able to finish our Computer reading that we had missed this morning. The new Glasses are working great, but I will probably end up with a sore Neck because I no longer need to bend it to read so much.

The Weather Guesser on the “6 o’clock Local News” confirmed that we can expect more precipitation for the next few days. Some of it could be accompanied by Thunder overnight. There is also a chance that some of it could be White. When does Spring start?

Eight Hours after having lunch, we had Perogies for supper. Later we watched “The Pitt” for entertainment.

We will see what tomorrow brings.

Dull With More Fog.

Our Location today is Windsor, Ontario.

Click on the pictures to enlarge.

After publishing the Blog last night and a slight delay, I barely sat down in my Recliner before falling to sleep. It was probably due to Monday Night’s lack of sleep. The only reason that I sleep in my Recliner at all is to realign my Neck and Shoulders. Once that happens, I am then able to sleep most if not the remainder of the night in Bed. Sleeping in Bed allows my Oxygen Levels to fully recharge. It was nearly Four Hours before I woke long enough to go to Bed. It was another Four Hours before I woke for the day.

The first thing I did after making my way to the Livingroom, was to open the Balcony Blinds and look outside. I could see down the street all the way to the end of the block. The only Fog that was visible was on the horizon, unlike yesterday.

Kathy normally needs more sleep than I do, so when she did not immediately follow me this morning, I was not surprised. That gave me time to start my Blog Reading because I do not like to ignore anyone even if they are busy reading as well.

We enjoyed Yogurt Cups and Breakfast Juice so we could take our Morning Medications. Looking outside as we headed to our Computers, Fog was starting to cover the Neighbouring Streets behind our building. By lunch time the houses, were no longer visible.

I understand that this happens when the warmer temperatures start melting the huge piles that were created while cleaning parking lots and streets. The added Humidity in the air and the lack of Wind to move it, so the Fog just blankets the area.

We again cheated today, by sharing another Store-Bought Thin-Crust Medium Pizza with extra Mushrooms for lunch.

According to yesterday’s forecast, our area was supposed to get Rain today, but by the time we finished lunch it was getting hard to see the vehicles in the parking lot below. At least it was not as thick as yesterday.

Our daughter Karen called to see how we were doing. Since she works a the University of Windsor on the west side of the City, she was travelling through areas of varying Fog density.

After watching the “6 o’clock Local News”, we had Macaroni and Cheese for our supper. We also watched a few episodes of “Mayday” this evening.

Though I had Planned that we would get out today, it did not happen. We will try again tomorrow.

Fog, FOG and More Fog.

Our Location today is Windsor, Ontario.

Click on the pictures to enlarge.

It was another back-and-forth night between my Recliner and Bed that still left the both of us feeling tired for the rest of the day. As soon as I saw the time this morning and having Plans, I pulled myself out of Bed. Kathy basically cut me off at the Bedroom door thinking that we had overslept.

Everything seemed so bleak when we entered the Livingroom, we immediately turned on the Inside Lights. The moment we opened the Balcony Blinds, we understood the reason. All we could see was Fog, we could barely see the cars in the parking lot below.

We enjoyed Cereal with our Breakfast Juice at the table, before taking out Coffees over to our Computers. As soon as I confirmed what today’s forecast would be. I started doing what I needed. Every month we need to do our Laundry, but it seemed that the Cereal was not setting well and I had to take a couple breaks while sorting. Another glance outside, made it appear the Fog was trying to hide our Balcony Rail.

I still managed to load the Washers down in the Second Floor Laundry Room, but when I went to make the payment, one of the machines started flashing “Out of Order”. With other tenants already using the Washers on the other side of the room, I knew it was going to be a long day. I immediately called the Machine Vendors to report the problem. According to their records, I have reported problems Six Times. My response was, if I did not, all the machines would be down, because nobody else will make the call. I was thanked for making the report

Kathy was just leaving the Apartment when I returned, scared that I had fallen and needed help. I had the chance to finish my Cold Coffee while reading a few Blogs. I then returned to move things to the Dryers and refill the Washers that I had just emptied.

Back at the Apartment, we shared a Store-Bought Thin-Crust Medium Pizza for lunch. That seems to be what we have every time we are doing laundry. It is simple to cook, is cooked within minutes and can be eaten in a short amount of time. That means that we can be back downstairs, before the last Washers are finished.

Kathy came with me, which made the folding go much quicker. Back upstairs, the Fog was so intense, we could not even see our Balcony Railing. It appeared like it was pushing up against the Door itself. I remember laughing when someone in California complained about all the Fog they were getting. The bad part is, we are on the Eighth Floor. Now they are getting Rain. I have to build an Ark.

We enjoyed Bacon/Veggie Wraps for supper and a small slice of Christmas Fruit Cake for dessert.

The Weather Guesser on the “6 o’clock Local News” assured us the Fog would soon be gone, but when I closed the Blinds at 9:00, it was still there. We can expect some wet weather for the rest of the week, before it turns White again. Winter!

We later watched “Will Trent” and “High Potential”, before watching a special on “John and Caroline”.

As Kathy headed to Bed, I looked out to see the Fog was gone.

Family Day and Mild Temperature.

Our Location today is Windsor, Ontario.

Click on the pictures to enlarge.

After spending most of Saturday Night in Bed, I was certain that my sleep routine was finally heading in the right direction but last night proved me wrong. I managed to spend more than Two/Thirds of the night in my Recliner, and it was not all sleeping. Still being tired this morning, led to sleeping later than I thought we would.

The moment I left the Bedroom, Kathy immediately joined me in the Livingroom. The Sun was shining past the Blinds, making everything glow with a brightness that was inviting, but in the distance, there was Fog hanging over the horizon.

We enjoyed Breakfast Snack Bars, Breakfast Juice to take our morning medications with and Yogurt Cups to start our day. With our Coffees at the Computers we managed to finish our Blog Reading before stopping for a late lunch of Chicken Noodle Soup. When we are not as active, we do not need to eat as much but are still comfortable.

I mentioned the other day how in parts of Canada, a new holiday had been created called Family Day. It gives students especially, a holiday between the Christmas Holidays and the March Break. That was today and it seemed that every time we looked down at the Ganatchio Trail, we saw Families enjoying this beautiful weather together. With Plans to go out for supper and to get some groceries, I totally forgot about that and kept telling Kathy I wanted to wait until the School Buses were off the road.

The temperature reached 50 F (10 C), so we were very comfortable wearing only Jackets when we went out. We went to the nearby Mary Brown’s chicken location to take advantage of their Monday Special. As we were leaving there, we noticed that all the stores in the Plaza were closed. The only businesses that were open were food related, Fast Food, Delis, Bakeries and Restaurants.

Instead of going for groceries, we headed home to watch the “6 o’clock Local News”. The forecast has changed and we can expect Rain with mild temperatures for the next few days, before we start seeing mixed precipitation for the remainder of the week.

As soon as the News was over, we watched the movie “It’s Complicatedwith Meryl Streep, Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin. It was released the year that I first retired, but we had never seen it. It was funny, but we are certain that something like that has happened many times in real life.

We will be busy tomorrow but still have enough food to last until the weekend.

Three Nights In A Row.

Our Location today is Windsor, Ontario.

Click on the pictures to enlarge.

I nearly reached my goal of spend the entire night in Bed last night. The last time I mentioned that, it came back to kick me. The main thing is that I will continue trying until it becomes a routine thing.

We were both enjoying our Breakfast Snack Bar and Yogurt Cup by 9:00 this morning. The Sun was shining in, but there was a Fog hanging above the horizon. This was being caused by the 34 F (1 C) temperature, melting the Winter Accumulation, bit by bit. Looking down from our Apartment, it was nice to see green starting to edge most of the neighbouring lawns.

After getting most of my On-Line reading done, I started getting things ready for lunch. I took less time than normal to blanch the Tomatoes, then finely chop Onions before simmering it into Homemade Tomato Soup. The topper was adding equal parts Mozzarella and Cheddar Cheeses into the mix. The trick was remembering how Hot it was, so as not to burn our mouths.

I had been delaying an Epson Salts Foot Bath, because Kathy kept saying that she was good. I finally took the time to do it for myself. I had been getting to the point that I could barely walk. Now I feel much better and will just have to remember to do it more often.

I mentioned yesterday that we had Leftover Halibut and Sweet Potato Fries to bring home for another meal. Since there were only a handful of Fries and Kathy likes those, we both had Asparagus as a side and I had Leftover Rice. We each had a square of a Nanaimo Bar for a dessert. Kathy’s favourite, not mine, but it was something.

We later watched a James Bond movie No Time To Die”. It has been over Forty Years since I last saw one. Kathy kept saying that she was not interested, but kept asking me for details of what was happening.

It was just after the movie was over that I realized, we have had Fish for supper the last Three Nights. It’s all good and maybe we can try for Four.

Since today’s temperature reached 46 F (8 C) again today, we Plan on taking advantage of that tomorrow.

Valentines Day Outing.

Our Location today is Windsor, Ontario.

Click on the pictures to enlarge.

Though I moved back and forth between the Two CPAP Machines, the one in the Bedroom got the most use last night. Kathy could not recall holding hands and claimed that she did not sleep well.

The Sun was already shining in when we started our day, but we were not in a hurry to be active. While Kathy was making the bed and getting dressed, I was busy making a Bacon/Veggie Omelette that we shared as for an early Brunch.

Checking The Weather Network around 10:00, we were both surprised to see that the temperature was not what the forecast had predicted but better, 43 F (6 C). Looking down at the parking lot, the piles of accumulated Flurries were shrinking by the hour.

We waited just past 2:00 before heading out the door. It felt good to only be wearing a Jackets rather than Winter Coats.

Heading west on Riverside Drive, it was nice to see the center expanse of the Detroit River void of any Ice. We continued until we reached Jefferson Avenue before heading south to Guardian Storage, to collect our Mail. Melissa was working today but is looking forward to Family Day on Monday. This was a Holiday designed to let Families share a day together. A day between the Christmas Holidays and the March Break, for the kids.

Even with an increase in Fuel Prices, we stopped at the Pioneer gas station to fill the Car. It was hard getting to the Pumps, because Vehicles were lined up to get cleaned at the bays at the back of the property. It was that kind of a day.

We did not get anything for one another for Valentine’s Day. Instead, we went to the Michigan Diner to celebrate this special day. We were not the only ones thinking that, because at 3:00 in the afternoon, the place was packed, Though I mentioned wanting the Halibut Fish and Chips from the Seniors Menu, they brought us the full-sized ones. That means that we can simply reheat what we brought home for another day.

Since Income Tax Returns will soon be due, we stopped at the Dollarama closest to our home, to pick up a few Resealable Folders. Their shelves were full of them last month, but we searched everywhere in the store, only to strike out. We did pick up a few Breakfast Snacks along with some Halls Cough Drops for Kathy.

We watched a few episodes of “Forensic Files” this evening.

We have a couple of 50 + days coming our way this week, the only downside is, they will be Wet.
