All Washed Up.

Our Location today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

Having two consecutive nights of very little restful sleep was not in the cards but it seems whenever we have something planned that’s when sleep seems to escape me. We had made plans to bring the trailer out to our son Kevin’s home in Amherstburg but we managed to sleep in until nearly 8:30 this morning. Even at that late hour there was no turning back and after a quick breakfast we were soon heading out the door.

We made a quick stop at the local Subway shop to pick up lunch. Thinking Kevin would join us Kathy ordered her sandwich made just the way she liked it and I ordered mine. My sandwich was loaded with extra of everything hot the same way Kevin likes his. Within minutes we were on our way to the Guardian Storage yard to pick up the trailer.

The traffic was not too bad but it has been a while since we’d travelled a certain section of Walker with the trailer in tow. Even though the pavement was unbroken the Washboard effect that was built in nearly made us both loose our breakfast. That one mile stretch of road made us feel like we were traveling I-75 from the Ohio border through the city of Detroit.

Since the parking on Kevin’s street changes to a different side of the street each month we had to turn the trailer around to back into his driveway from the opposite direction. It actually worked out better and we were in the process of unhooking the truck within five minutes.

Kevin had already gotten the power washer ready and by 11:00 I was hauling it up to the roof. In the past I’ve always washed and scrubbed the roof by hand but by using the power washer along with the pole brush the roof looked better and it only took an hour to do instead of the four it normally takes.

By the time the roof was finished and the tools were back on the ground Kathy called us in for lunch. Kevin declined half my sandwich because he was feeling sick to his stomach. I managed to break into a sweat sitting in the Air Conditioned dining room while eating half that sandwich.

Kevin wasn’t able to help me on the roof because of his hands but we worked together cleaning the sides and ends of the trailer. We needed to stop frequently for water breaks because of 102 F (39 C) Humidex this afternoon. We transformed the trailer from a grungy grey to a sparkling white color and even managed to get most of the stains removed from our awning. It was 5:00 by the time we’d wrapped everything up said our Thank You-s to Kevin and were pulling the trailer back towards Windsor.
What the storage yard looked like when we arrived.
This morning the Weather Network had forecasted severe thunderstorms for our area. Kathy and I were half way home when the sky ahead turned black and lightning began appearing. It wasn’t until we turned onto Rhodes Drive leading to Guardian Storage that there was any evidence that it had just rained. A few cracks of thunder really startled Kathy and even though the spot we park the trailer was partially flooded it took us less than five minutes to drop off the trailer and be on our way home.
Another storm blowing away from our location.
We arrived at the apartment just on time to watch the 6 o’clock News and have the second half of our sandwiches for supper. A short while ago we had the power flicker in our apartment and there has been more lightning but not a drop of rain so I’m sure we’ll have a great night’s sleep tonight. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!
